Sad to be celebrated for people not wanting to actually buy your music.... That's how I feel about it

He doesn't sell his music. He's known for being one of the biggest artists that isn't on a label who hasn't put any of his music for sale (it's all been free). It's not that people don't want to buy his music...it's that he won't let them lol

Um... the only reason your "technology" exists is to limit the losses caused by illegal downloading. It's a band-aid, not a sign that the industry is going well and forward.

So yeah, I will gladly stay in the 60s where artists were appreciated and could actually survive and live from their art, thank you very much.

You'll have to agree that it's still a bit sad to give away your work for free, that's all I'm saying. From an established artist like Miley who has nothing to lose, I get why she would do it once in the sake of total artistic freedom, but from an emerging artist who needs to assert his position in the industry? Can't help but feeling like it's basically shooting yourself in the foot. If people aren't buying his music now, they won't want to buy it tomorrow either.
