LG5 Test: What if IWYL was Gaga's?

DISCLAIMER:

This is not to say that LG5 will be in this style of music! Rodgers' comment wasn't clear enough, but in any case, there's a big chance that the album will at least sound something like this (since Ronson). This is just 'cause I'm curious to see what the fans would think, as a sort of "test" for LG5. If this thread goes well, I might make similar threads, I think it'd be pretty fun.

Imagine a world where Chic's iconic hit I Want Your Love doesn't exist :unicorn:

Imagine Gaga surprise dropped her new single, I Want Your Love, co-written and co-produced by Nile Rodgers :sis:

Pretend listening to the song for the first time (use video below):

(not using the official one 'cause the images are distracting; focus on the music)

What would you think? :saladga:

Would you be happy? Disappointed? Why?

Comment below :gaycat:

I'd be 100% happy, proud, and amazed, not just at the vocal delivery (which is stellar) but the extreme quality of the production and its attention to detail.

And I'd think it was a perfect single choice. Songs like this become classics, a must play record for all the wedding parties you'll go to in the future, a never-ending radio hit

So pls, Gags. Pls.

Ha, I DID hear it for the first time with her singing it! I'd never heard the original!

It was a bit of a shock, and I liked it, but I was too excited for LG5 and knew it was a cover so left it. Then a few weeks later I went back to it and actually really loved it, and I play it all the time now!

I think if it were her song, not a cover, and announced as her song, I would've eaten it up! And been surprised that I enjoyed it's unique flavour.

(EDIT: Although, I think her own music on LG5 will have even better, catchier hooks and stronger writing, metaphors and imagery! Which is exciting!)

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

I might be a little underwhelmed by the chorus, but other than that I would be thrilled.

I'd be here for it :firega:

Knowing IWYL is a cover and that she didn't write it herself makes it hard for me to truly connect to this song in the way I connect to her other songs. But yeah, I wouldn't be mad if her lead single sounded like this.

I'd LOVE if this would be her lead single. And I agree it would become a huge hit.

I like that it departs from the typical pop structure actually :flutter: That instrumental comes to life in different ways in all of the parts. Which is why I don't mind a second verse not appearing.

Besides, more replay value this way :nick:

No. Good for a jam on the album, but it's just too damn repetitive and noisy as soon as the second chorus kicks in.

Good for a radio hit since we have repetitive messes like Work and Work From Home, but not as a good quality music like Gaga's been teasing these last months

I would be here for it but not as a lead single. The chorus is just not that good

I'd be more than happy. It's probably one of my favorite songs she's ever sang. The vocals, the production, the video are all amazing, and even though it's a cover of an older genre, it feels so fresh for her. If LG5 was anything like this I'd be very happy.
