The man has been a Democrat the majority of his life. While Hillary Clinton was calling for a ban on same-sex marriage and denial of domestic partnerships of same-sex couples, Trump was supporting marriage equality and he's even denounced the exact anti-gay laws that are talked about in the OP. Hillary Clinton and her husband Bill Clinton, both life-long democrats, were the ones that passed DoMA which has by far been the biggest blow to LGBT rights federally. He is now isn't he? Say what you want but he's made an unholy alliance with the GOP now and he'll have to cave in to some of their requests if he wants cooperation. There's no doubt that anti-LGBT discrimination is at the top of the list judging by the current climate. Hillary never called for a ban nor was she ever against domestic partnerships. From the get go her stance was civil marriages with all rights and liberties. I've already said this dozens of times and you have access to the Internet. Quit repeating that. Hillary didn't pass DOMA. Her husband did. Either way it's neither our place to say it was blow considering many said it was what stemmed the rising tide of homophobia that paved the way to today's advancements. In any case, him wanting it to be left to the states isn't an excuse either. Human rights should never be left to the discretion of local governments that can enforce the will of the majority on minorities. What a pitiful round-about excuse. ---- I'll take down the photo because I get where you're coming from, but why are you making me feel like I should? It's not insulting to have him kissing Putin. He's in bed with him after all, figuratively if not literally. (with people thinking the latter being insulting making it quite ironic) Edited just now by LebaneseDude. (with people thinking the latter being insulting making it quite ironic) Because this thread has nothing to do with Trump getting cozy with Putin. It's about Europe (hypocritically) denouncing American anti-gay sentiment. By attaching the photo of Trump gay kissing a European leader, you've heavily implied that this is a direct slap in the face to Trump when in fact Trump has supported gay and transgender rights decades longer than your preferred candidate for president. TiphEret 1,320
It's all very nice that the EU wants to give advice to the US but they should check EU countries first because the level of ignorance and homophobia in France is astonishing. Some people there can compete with the ignorant asses you'll find in North Carolina, they are so backward! And I am sure you can find many examples like that in a lot of EU countries. Basically you are safe if you live in a bigger city or in a rich progressive country like most Scandinavian countries but there is still a lot of work to do in Europe!
