I would most certainly NOT accept tossing an LGBT label on a previously created character. People like this make me cringe so much. There is no need to go back and re-write the Disney canon simply so their fan fiction fantasies can come to life. I would much rather an LGBT character be introduced over time, which will inevitably happen. To me knowledge, it kind of has been explored in Once Upon a Time, though I don't watch that show. This kind of change simply cannot be instantly forced on a company like Disney. They are very pro-diversity, I know because I work for them, so any one who tries to say their anti-gay can shove it  Our culture, despite the great treads in equality, is still not ready for any LGBT characters. Hell, look at how controversial Tiana was  I am very confident in saying we'll see some type of same-sex couple in a Disney film in the next few decades. This stuff takes time. Be patient friends and we will get to reap the benefits

Its an unnecessary addition. Why does she HAVE to be lesbian? Why can't she just be a single straight woman? Why does see need a romantic partner at all? I'm just not seeing a legitimate rationale for why we need to have Elsa come out as a lesbian, because we do not. Its lazy creativity to be like "oh by the way Elsa's a lesbian now". Why not come up with an entirely new character? I will not be happy if Disney caves to these "activists" Not everything has to be gay, I wish you all would realize that. Trying to code everything LGBT helps no one...

There are more pressing issues than having a lesbian fictitious animated princess. I agree that if they do go about it, I hope that it's natural and properly portrayed.

Still, the point of pressure is to remind these people that we exist. It's not meant to wring them into doing it.

Furthermore, it's not about labeling. It's about identification and appropriate representation if possible.  It's the same with all forms of entertainment. It's no different than African Americans wanting black characters on shows etc...

All people here are doing is asking that Elsa be made a lesbian given that she is essentially a blank slate in that department. She can be straight or remain single too. It's all up for grabs.

Not to mention that Elsa is a huge figure. If they do it right, it would be momentous.

Also, it's kinda unfair to compare issues here. This is entertainment and should be considered as such. Nothing in entertainment is pressing.

My concern is that Disney will interpret this pressure as a "now or never" ultimatum (which is how it comes across to me personally) and thus rush the development of Elsa into Lesbian Ice Queen. That's why I would just prefer they not go down the  path with Frozen and come up with something more invigorating and meaningful down the line. I think its just unreasonable to ask Disney to make an already established character into something else just to stoke the egos of a bunch of LGBT people.

I totally understand where you're coming from. I'm the first to argue against artificial representation for the sake of it as opposed to making it meaningful, like token black characters for example.

But as I have already mentioned, Elsa may be an established character but her sexual orientation has not been implied, unlike her sister who had not one but two heterosexual relationships. If they were to go down that path, it would not be "something else", because that part of her has never been shown.

Who knows? Maybe it was their plan all along.
