Lets say she died today. Wouldn't you think that with all her accomplishments she would not be considered a legend?

No, she would die the Cyndi Lauper of our Generation. Remembered for her most popular hits, regarded as talented, and considered a nostalgic act. Let her pump out 2 more albums, and if they do well then I think she'd be there. She needs more success under belt to be a legend and that's the honest truth.

Funny how an impressive 8 years became 15 minutes of fame.

More like 4. (2009, 2010, 2011, 2015)

Those are the only years that have been impressive so far. And three of them were the beginning of her career and her peak.

Nobody is successful 100% of the time. That time frame you've listed is 6 whole years.

Not really. Gaga has already accomplished things that cyndi Lauper never did. And you are forgetting alot of years on your second comment.

The good sis has only released 4 albums. She has the biggest chance out of most of current pop stars (besides maybe Adele or Taylor Swift) but she'll need more iconic hits. I personally see her becoming more of a well respected cult figure e.g Cyndi Lauper.

I would definitely say she's iconic, but to me a legend has to put YEARS in...8 is a long time but not even a decade. After 15-20 years...I think you qualify for legendary status

I mean... she's only really had two big eras (if you count TF/M as one). It feels like it should be way more because of all that she has achieved, but I really think that the key to being a legend is being consistently successful over a long period of time. Yes, some artists are considered legends after a few albums because they died young and had a great impact, but Gaga is still alive.

She's definitely one of the most iconic stars of our generation but I feel like the term "legend" should hold more weight to it, but we seem to just throw it around nowadays. Gaga is far away from people like MJ, The Beatles, Madonna, Elvis etc in terms of overall success, influence, longevity, and those are the kind of people that should be considered legends.

If she can bounce back from ARTPOP and reach a level similar to Born This Way again, I feel like she will be on the path. She definitely has it in her...

Nope. She hasn't even had a number one hit in 5 years. :green:

:derpga:

You don't have to have a number one hit to be a legend for christ's sake. ARE YOU SERIOUS?!

You can be a nice person who spreads awareness about important mental and social health issues, start charities, spread love and tolerance and equality everywhere you go. Rihanna has had a number one hit for ten weeks now, would you call her a legend? Please, the charts and the music industry is corrupted af. Don't let it make your decisions and make up your mind for you, that's exactly what it wants.

If you don't have shadows you're not standing in the light.
