Beyonce's cultural impact unmatched?

Well, I'm inclined to agree. Ever since 4 Beyoncé has worked towards cementing herself in the legends category. Looking back 4 was her wildest and strangest effort and a clear break from her first 3 albums, which were largely a RnB diva product. But now 4 is just a transitional record that serves as an opening to what ST and Lemonade are.

The only real challengers of this worth she's created are Adele and Gaga imo. But both of them have to work very hard to catch up. Adele is up for a reinvention if she is to stay in the long-term. And Gaga has so much to prove with LG5 if she has amibition to be on top. I don't want you to take my words as a Little Manager. Not implying Gaga must do anything, just being objective. It's strange how Gaga came like a firestorm and basically every other popstar had to "survive" her. 4 is a good example of how all the attention was to 21 and BTW. But things have changed so much since 2011, even 2013. I mean BEYONCÉ and Lemonade happened after ARTPOP... Now it's the Beyoncé hurricane that others need to go through. Ofc, please don't quote me to drag me about that. I don't doubt Gaga even for a second she is capable to match this in her own way (cause it's not a race after all, there's room for all of them to be up there). Only saying Gaga has to work a lot to match this impact, and she can deliver. :flutter:

I understand that Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and Beyonce may be mentioned everywhere in the US and UK but I can assure you outside of the English speaking world they have almost zero impact and if anything Korean entertainment is the dominating culture after gaga's reign in 2012 ended.

I feel like it's hard to deny at this point. I can't think of anyone else who gets people THIS excited. Say what you want about her as an artist, but no one else comes close at the moment. Sure you have people like Adele and Taylor that have huge eras (and maybe sell more records) but Beyonce gets people going crazy whenever she lifts a finger lol.

And to people saying they don't hear about this album outside of online stan circles... I kinda find that hard to believe unless you just don't socialise very much or don't pay attention lol. Media went crazy, social media blew up, the album is dominating iTunes (11 of the 12 tracks are in the top 15 right now). Maybe no one in your personal life was talking about it but I went to university and had discussions with at least 3 people who had heard the album and seen the film. In the library I saw a girl on a computer near me trying to find the songs on YouTube before she caved and got a Tidal trial :rip: Also I dunno if anyone uses the app Yik Yak but there were a lot of posts about Beyonce in my town over the weekend, and still now.

Take a look how many writers contributed to Lemonade. Hint: its alot.

Because she sampled songs :awkney: That's how song credits work.

Whitney Houston did not write any of her music (she's a co writer on very few songs). Does that mean she is untalented?

Currently listening to Joanne

I don't even think Adele matched it when she released.

Lots of older people I know mentioned Adele when 25 came out, like "Adele is coming back" and "Is this that Adele woman playing?", but no one said that about Beyonce.

Maybe true in the USA but from where I'm from (and I have a reason to believe most countries as well), she's just a pop star. No where is she near Madonna or MJ in our region. She's quite local.

Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊

Lemonade is a masterpiece. Is it overrated? Probably. Does it deserve it praise? Hell yes.

It is a great body of work and she made a very cohesive, original and personal album.

I prefer Lemonade over all her albums. BEYONCE was a rather unoriginal album and it wasn't as diverse as Lemonade.

Also, what is it with everybody trying to make a competition out of the creativity of musicians? Nobody is forcing you to hear anybodys music and nobody is forcing critics to write their opinions. If you don't like it fine, but why do you put a musician down.

OT: Beyonce has more impact in Germany than any other American musician.

...adele has the same sound with 25 while beyonce created something very different from her previous music

of course people will need time to recognise her

Off topic but in the time span from when ARTPOP was released until now, Beyonce has released two albums. Let that sink in.

And music videos for each song :air:

I wouldn't say causing debate is "having an impact" (there's a lot of things that will get ppl talking, but aren't necessarily something that determines, to a certain point, what our culture will be). Besides, a lot of this debate and impression that "it's an event" comes from us living in our own little left-leaning, SJW, PC, white guilt world...there's a bunch of ppl - way more people, by the way - that don't even know about Beyoncé's work...

I think it's more about how someone helps shaping the music market and how they help changing cultural perspectives...and Lemonade is great, but it's not saying anything new and it's not delivering anything that will change the music industry. "Beyoncé", for example, had more of an impact in that it made surprise releases an actual thing. Ever since 2013 I've seen a lot of big artists working in secrecy and/or revealing things in the last minute before release. That's impact...

And I'd say Madonna is the most impactful pop artist out there.

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

I'd like to hear you speak more passionately about what you believe in.

What do you think will be Beyonce's longest lasting legacy?

She's ok I guess no one talks about her that much anymore out and about this side of the pond she's never on the radio either apart from when crazy in love comes on.
