StrawberryBlond 15,024
I don't get it. I don't what the "right" thing is to say anymore when it comes to body shape. One minute, we're being told to say that we're not perfect, but imperfections are beautiful and it would be bad if we all looked the same. The next, we're being told to say that the best body shape is something in between fat and skinny because those extremes are unhealthy and we should be campaigning the government to make our foods healthier and exercise should be encouraged. The next, we're being told to embrace whatever shape you have and that there is no thing as perfect. And there'll be another idea next week. It's this kind of thinking that actually encourages eating disorders. Putting out propaganda about how we should think and then changing it just as fast. So, just as you hop on one trend, a new one begins and you have to change your thinking again. There's nothing wrong with saying that your body isn't perfect - whoever says they don't have an idea of the perfect body in their head is lying. Everyone has their own vision of that. If you can't be like your personal vision but nevertheless accept yourself the way you are, more power to you. That shows you're being realistic and have confidence in your beliefs. And don't let anyone tell you different. I'm sure it's pretty well believed in the 21st century that shaming people for being confident with their bodies (and being non constructive with that criticism) encourages eating disorders. Seventeen should be ashamed of themselves for publishing this. Whatever you think of Demi, you have to be so careful of what you say to someone who's a survivor of an eating disorder. The poor girl just can't win at the moment. Just when she seems to find confidence, she's shot down for it. From a girl's magazine, no less.
JustPokeHerFace 2,564
Demi is not my favorite artist by any means, but that article is just an example of an increased amount of people looking for reasons to be offended nowadays.

Katharine Hepburn 4,607
We should just teach kids that how you looks isn't important rather than just say they're perfect. OT Demi can be problematic at times. This is not one of those times. xoxo Joanne
