I remember Gaga started talking about ARTPOP almost immediately after Born This Way was released in 2011. She was so passionate about the new project, describing in detail to her fans how it was going to be a visual-based multimedia feast of an album. But then her greedy management team forced her to compromise her vision. Then ultimately they abandoned her. Yeah I think Beyonce's team definitely were tracking Gaga's ideas. Not saying that Bey or anyone else copied Gaga, but definitely Gaga was the first modern pop singer who explicitly spoke at lengths and in detail about her vision for a visual-based album.
