Nominees tend to go to the extreme in their primaries and then become more moderate during the presidential candidate race. 

So if Trump wins the nomination, expect him to tone down his rhetoric.

It doesn't make him any less of a threat.

Trump is pretty liberal when it comes to lgbt rights. He just says whatever he thinks the right wants to hear to get nominated. That's not to say he doesn't believe some of it himself, though.
