Iraqi man kicked off flight for texting in Arabic

Hasan Dewachi, 32, originally from Iraq, was on the EasyJet flight to Gatwick when he was approached by a member of cabin crew.

Hasan, who has lived in the UK for six years and is studying for a Master’s degree in Biochemistry, was then told to leave the plane.

EasyJet have now been forced to apologise after the married father-of-two was abandoned at the airport without a flight and without a phone.

He told MailOnline: ‘One minute I was texting my wife on my mobile to tell her the plane was about to take off and I’d be home soon. The next a member of cabin crew came over to tell me I had to leave the plane.’

‘It transpired a woman passenger had seen me texting my wife in Arabic, my mother language, and for some inexplicable reason suspected I was a terrorist.’

Although Hasan told them he wasn’t, all passengers were told to leave the plane and luggage was removed for additional screening.

According to a statement, there was ‘nothing suspicious found’ and he was allowed to continue his journey, without his mobile phone.

According to a statement, there was ‘nothing suspicious found’ and he was allowed to continue his journey, without his mobile phone.

Hasan said: ‘It was very upsetting and humiliating. I have no idea who the woman passenger was or why she thought I was acting suspiciously.’

By this time the EasyJet flight had already left without him and he was shocked when he wasn’t offered a replacement flight.

‘It meant I had to pay hundreds of pounds for an alternative flight. I feel racially discriminated against. It is as if they have forgotten I am not only a customer but a human being as well.’

He was later reimbursed by the company and was given an apology.

Wtf? Just a few days ago, a student got kicked off for speaking in Arabic in USA 

That is so embarrassing. All he was texting is that he was taking off, and this crusty ass lady had to peek over. Like, who the **** read other people's text conversations? 

And no phone, no ticket (he had to pay for a new flight) and wasting everyone's time.

Like, if he got on the plane with no issues in the screening, what's the point of re-screening? 

This whole thing makes me mad.

This is terrible. See it's not just a one-time event  Again, speaking or texting in a language does not mean that someone is going to carry out an attack, I would assume that people with common sense would realize this but it seems like arrogance has taken over a country. I mean, people should be allowed to use the language they prefer, right? When is it morally correct to kick someone off because they're texting in a language that you think is "suspicious"? Don't even start with that "BUT THEY'RE DOING IT JUST IN CASE" because multiple people who don't speak the language or aren't Muslim have claimed quite a few (understatement of course) lives this year, just saying.
