Decodekid 28,232
Gaga can do any genre but most of us started following her because of her pop music (at least me idk). The majority of the things she's done is pop and she's pretty good at it and we love her work, and there's no point of calling it "crap" since almost every single album she's put out is pop. But i don't really mind Gaga experimenting new things, if she wants to do LG5 a whole ballad/rock/funk/ whatever i'm here for it i just need new music. Swan Heart 7,382
I love all kinds of music. They say it's the last song. They don't know us, you see. It's only the last song if we let it be.
PMKKARDASHiAN 8,570
Because it's what she does best. I don't care that she explores other mediums of music as long as pop is the foundation for which she builds upon.
Lucas 26,862
People fell in love with a POP singer, it's not about being close-minded to other genres at all, it's about what we, LISTENERS, love most
arca 213
I honestly think Gaga should just record whatever the fu-ck she wants, I don't mind the genre But I dream of Gaga doing something experimental / IDM (Intelligent Dance Music)
eifulien 2,955
Actually I think most of us do listen to other music other than pop and dance. But posting about it here, it usually gets either negative responses or ignored completely. I like RnB more than pop as a genre. I'm sure there are plenty of fans who like rock, or listen to oldies, to alternative, house or other electronic music. But it's not a common topic for us to discuss as much. E.g. I always skip threads about Japanese or Korean music. Solely reading the titles and seeing the thumbnails of the videos gives me rashes so I always skip them. (this is just an example, don't drag me, I don't mind the people who love this kind of music).
StarstruckIllusion 52,652
the next popular genre is full of homophobic straight makes obsessed with real life drama, violence, and being the best alpha male by getting the most vag. Can you guess what genre I'm talking about? What gay is supposed to like that? The only rapper that isn't like that is Kendrick, which I love the most (thanks Gaga) and straight guys @ my school don't like the most (****ing pathetic). One of them told me in my face to not Stan Kendrick. The only genres I escape out of from pop is electronica and sometimes indie/alternative lol
Judas Oyster 1,914
I think that you should think about the definition of pop. The term comes from "popular" AKA what's popular right now. Which type of genre or fusion dominates now. The good thing about that is that what is popular can change. We saw that with Gaga and her electronic sound. We saw how Lorde topped the charts with "Royals" - and now look even at "Work" by Rihanna :P "Pop music is eclectic, and often borrows elements from other styles such as urban, dance, rock, Latin, and country; nonetheless, there are some core elements that define pop music. Identifying factors include generally short to medium-length songs written in a basic format (often the verse-chorus structure) as well as the common employment of repeated choruses, melodic tunes, and hooks." (Wikipedia) We still can get some DWUW, Aura or Yoü And I for example - it's up to Gaga how she camouflages her pop structured songs into other genres. I hope she camouflages it into disco sounding songs next time.

CannaeDrive 3,412
The fact that some fans (not all of them fortunately) only like pop is pretty much irrelevant, because Gaga showed us time and time again that she likes many genre of music, that she she is pretty much educated in every thing music related and that she can do (and actually does) many music styles. That's the kind of artist she is and she is not pop exclusive, weither some fans like it or not. That is also what is making her so special in the music industry.
