Hollywood White WASHES Japanese Anime in movie adaptation

to followers of the anime, what are your thoughts on this?

As much as I love Scarlett, I think they're right to be angry. Hollywood needs more Asian actors to represent these kinds of films.

Anime or not, but that character does not look Asian. From that perspective. I have nothing else to add anymore. I do get it, why people would be mad over this. It would have been better for an Asian cast.

It's Anime, everything is literally Asian.

There's also the problem that Asians are only casted to play Nerdy roles. In Hollywood Asians are rarely anything else. But of course, a white person has no issue with this

Anime characters do look Asian. At least to avid anime watchers.

I thought I was the only one saying it. Thank god, I'm not.   

It's probably because the anime self is from Asia, therefore the character needs to be asian. That's what they are trying to point out I guess.. But damn, that character does NOT, again. NOT look like an asian girl. 

Anyways, I'm not here to say what's right. I never seen the series, perhaps they need an Asian actress.

Yeah, I guess. But Asians are also one of the smartest people in this world. Next to that, I get the specific role thing. It's just that I'm biasing from what they are talking right now. And it surely doesn't look like an Asian girl. Perhaps make the rest of the cast Asian, is what I would have expected.

Just because the character doesn't LOOK asian doesn't mean she isn't... It's a cartoon style. Yes, but it's literally set in Asia.....

Well, people need to realize that it's a much bigger issue than a casting choice. Hollywood has been remaking foreign films for decades - producers would rather remake the same film in English with a complete anglo-saxon cast than distributing the original thing.

Americanization is a real thing, also because Americans would rather see a Hollywood film than a subtitled Japanese, French or German picture. It's also up to the people to go to artsy theaters and to open their tastes to other cultural products. For the industry to change, people also need to change. Just sayin'.

I'm not. Please care to read what else I have wrote in the thread. I do not have to know the origin of anime, and I have said that I do understand why Anime fans would get mad over this.
