Drake's release date for Views is April 29 on Apple Music. All other music services will receive the album on May 6. Sometimes the exclusive-rights strategy can also backfire, limiting potential streaming revenue, increasing piracy, and keeping albums off of the charts. All of which happened to Kanye West earlier this year when he released his album The Life of Pablo exclusively on Tidal. Life of Pablo eventually went to number 1 on BB200 when it was released to all streaming platforms and became the first number one album on th BB200 based on streaming alone. Drake ran into this problem himself: His smash hit "Hotline Bling" never became a Billboard No. 1 — despite Drake's open ambitions for the song, and possibly because Apple Music declined to release music video streaming numbers to Nielsen. The Last June, Apple launched their streaming service with a huge endorsement from Drake, who reportedly signed a $19 million deal that has since yielded OVO Sound Radio and other gems, like the “Hotline Bling” video, which Apple paid for. It's like you have to have Apple Music, Itunes, and Tidal to get music. The downside of streaming is you cannot download.
