The Child 18,997
Do What U Want solo then remixed with Xtina honestly. Sexxx Dreams should have followed and get remixed with Rihanna. MANiCURE as the 3rd single, remix with Nicki Minaj. Gypsy as the 4th single for the summer & Applause as the 5th single. ‘If religion be the cause of disunity, then irreligion is surely to be preferred.’ ‘Abdu’l-Bahá
abracaluca 540
The singles should have been Do What U Want (Solo) - August 13 Venus - Nov 13 MANiCURE - Feb 14 Applause - May
Yo GagaGaga 6,541
Applause would honestly be the only lead from ARTPOP (except for maybe DWUW) that wouldn't have completely flopped. Applause was the only song that remotely would appeal to the GP. I love ARTPOP and all of its songs, but Applause was the best decision.
Bear 7,515
I actually think Applause best reflected the album and was the perfect choice. But if we're going for the bling, DWUW would have SMASHED as a lead single

Dark Anatomy 2,284
31 minutes ago, StrawberryBlond said: I guess MANiCURE. That was definitely one of her most commercial choices, very catchy, women would have loved it and I'm sure it would've been some sort of hit. But after reading this... That was a really good way of putting it. Personally, I would have loved The Weeknd on it, just someone who wasn't controversial (Rock Ross wasn't a good choice for the remix either ever since that UOENO song - she just has no luck with who she was featuring). I don't like Drake, but he would have caused that song to blow up being on it. A younger, less controversial, relevant RnB artist featuring, a non-controversial video to go with it and Gaga actually treating it well (instead of performing Venus everywhere) could have resulted in a different direction for the era. Would it have overthrown Roar? Debatable, but it could have given it some strong competition at #2. Absolutely. I think overall The Weeknd would've been the best choice. It would actually be interesting if an audio remixer could mash something up of his during the R&B part. Either way, for the video, I can imagine a wide open club with party goers dressed in black robes who taunt her. At the end when she wails "Do whatchu want with MY" shards of glass could explode from the disco ball and rain down as she dances on the floor surrounded by fire, while the clubers drown her in a sea of cameras, and she lives for it. I imagine her dressed in a black leather version of the caution tape outfit with bit of ripped leather hanging off her body. Teased up platinum blonde hair. LizaMontero 93
Applause is a good choice. It should have been followed by Venus, then Do What U Want
PaperIz 7,346
Gaha wanted Aura so that's my pick. The ARTPOP era would've have gone better imo if she did it the way she wanted instead of the label. I think the singles would've been aura, venus, guy and been the real ARTPOP trilogy but interscope had to get in the way and do what u want (with my singles) Human generated art

Arizona Sky 10,913
Applause was the right choice for the lead single. It would've had a Top 3 debut if everything went as planned with the music video premiering along with the single. I'm also glad she changed the 2nd single to DWUW. It could've gone Top 5 with a video. Other than that, there's really no single worthy songs. Gypsy may have been able to go Top 20/30 but nothing more. The rest would've peaked in the bottom half of the Hot 100 or lower.
Hyoha 1,613
Applause was the best single choice for this album. It performed really well on the charts in a time of crisis. In fact, all singles released during the ARTPOP era were really good choices. I just didn't appreciate Gaga changing the 2nd single from Venus to DWUW. I'd release Venus first since it had a video ready to go, then release DWUW a month or two later. Then G.U.Y., as it happened.
