That has nothing to do with what we were just talking about tho. You were criticizing only one group for things you can find in others too. If you want to talk about terrorism, that's a different subject and not really related. If you know who Anjem Choudary is and you still don't think there is a unique problem posed by segregated Muslims communities within the UK in particular, I have to say I lose some amount of respect for your independent thinking skills... Ciccone Madonna 1,362
Religions are ****, manmade instruments that cause only pain and suffering. Spirituality is another thing although. If all people learned to manipulate their energy in a beneficial way , this world would be a better place.

I do know who he is and I wonder why he wasn't locked up, since they can't deport him. MI5 could often harass ordinary muslims who travel to muslim countries and threaten them with all kinds of bs to become informants, which could later radicalize them, but they would let few known hate preachers to live free on benefits and openly spread hate. It took them ages to deport Omar Bakri for example. But if you would know anything about his past life, before becoming radical, he was a westernized drunken Brit who studied law and medicine and didn't isolate himself to '"muslim only" community. So there goes that theory. FreePalestine

I highly recommend you watch the (liberal) Vice documentaries on youtube about radical UK communities of Muslims, I think you'd actually gain perspective on what we're talking about in this thread about "forming nations within nations". LebaneseDude 6,146
You guys always fail to remain on topic. Islamophobia really? Not every criticism laid on a religious group's cultural presence is a product of bigotry, especially when it causes disruptions. First of all, these aren't local Muslims. They are immigrants. They also happen to be Muslims who are enforcing their traditionally Islamic way of life on the local communities. They are not necessarily culturally equivalent to local ones. Their motives aren't malicious. They just want to live the way they did back home, as regressive as it was. They aren't to blame. but their actions are running counter to the European plan to integrate them into their society. They are standing apart rather than together. What's happening is that, like most cultural or ethnic groups, Muslims are grouping up together rather than integrating with the more or less homogeneous populations of Europe. While there are many subcultures in Europe as well, they aren't as distinct as American ones. The USA prides itself on multiculturalism, supposedly. Europe doesn't. So what's happening here is that this particular instance is something new to them. Muslims are grouping together into communities, and forming their own rules within their own groups. Think Native Americans being allowed to have their own "laws", but are still held accountable under American law. But, unlike Native Americans, these people don't have permission to do that. They are supposed to integrate into the culture, not stand apart from it. But yeah...keep talking about islamophobia as if that's what's being discussed here, as opposed to multiculturalism and the clashing of cultures. Edited just now by LebaneseDude.
