For example when he says "I'm a God" or "I'm the new Picasso" - basically he's saying that he has to think that way in order to believe in himself to create what he wants. He wants his fans to think like that so that they also can do what they want. He also goes public without censoring himself, speaking the "truth" (his truth) but still, it makes room for other people to stand up and tell their truth. In that empowerment perspective he's like Gaga, only that Gaga actually says it with much better words. Also, part of hip-hop culture as always been to protest about what's wrong and verbalize it in songs, so I think that keeps him going too. I hope he'll get better at it with time... I love his music and visuals, so I'm a big fan of his work, but I can see why some people hate him. Just like some hate Chris Brown, only that Kanye ain't hurting no one tbh. To me, Kanye is a spoilt rich kid who has become a caricature of all of the vices hip hop industry. Oh boy, I used to LOVE him. Especially Late Registration, Graduation and 808s and Heartbreak. So from about 2005-2009. I started to dislike him around the same time the as the critics started to crawl up his booty (MBDTF, 2010). Remember when Kanye was dangerously outspoken AND critical? I only started to follow Kanye from 2008 and on so I actually don't know how he was before. But I agree with your comments. I have a buddy that has told me how he has changed these last years.
