Lord Temptation 11,209
OMG I loved her first album Dangrously in Love and her third I Am...Sasha Fierce. Both are A+. Her second and fourth albums were C+ albums. Slightly better than average. Her recent self-titled album is a B+ album. So as you can see I love Beyonce! I just wish she was nicer to Gaga. Why haven't they done anything or hung out or anything since Telephone back in early 2010? That was six years ago! Are they not on speaking terms or something I don't know about?! I love them both! BUT! I just wish she would bring back Sasha Fierce!

I don't get why so many people like her as a person. She's overwhelmingly arrogant and egocentric in her songs which is only acceptable if you're a rapper, which she is not. Seriously, calling herself a queen and saying she slays? Full-grown women don't need to say that in songs except the insecure ones. In reality, a person who acts like this would be laughed at. 2. She puts very little effort into her art. It's mostly the product of others and she just changes a line or two, adds a little bit of diva flair to it (which isn't songwriting) and then puts her name on the credits. She even has the gall to put her name on the credits of cover songs which were not lyrically changed. 3. She steals music video and live performance concepts from others and even songs. She stole If I Were A Boy off the unknown artist, BC Jean and put her name on the credits and didn't even inform the girl of what she'd done. That alone is one reason that I will never support her. 4. For someone who can just sing and dance, she gets far too much praise when there are far more multi-talented artists out there who don't get a tenth of the worship she does. Singing and dancing's good and all, but I value artists on their songwriting and instrument playing on the side. A lot of people can sing and dance but a lot of people can't write songs. They're the ones who should be praised to high heaven, not someone who is just a mouthpiece for other people's creations, no matter how sweet she may sound. Now, this is somewhat controversial, but...for those who think black women don't get the props they should, take a look at how overrated Beyonce is. She gets more respect for being black, if anything. In her genre, being black automatically commands respect regardless of how good you actually are. 5. Her fans are very hard to deal with and seem to permanently talk in internet slang. Criticise one thing about their precious goddess and they go on about how she's flawless and way more successful than you'll ever be and blah blah blah. Fans who view their fave's achievements as their own, basically. Not Beyonce's fault that she has fans like this, but it means her name has a negative connotation even so. Basically this. Life ain't Hollywood for any one of us.

eifulien 2,954
Stan culture is very interesting. I miss the days when I wasn't part of all this and my friends and I were simply enjoying many artists without pitting them against each other. For the stan it's unconceivable to be a fan of Bey, Gags, and Rih at the same time (my case). Anyway, moving on - the hate Bey gets, in general, is because she is successful, she is woman, she is black. Here on GGD, many Monsters are pressed about her since she stole Gaga's thunder in 2013. Just when ARTPOP was reaching unimaginable amount of backlash, Bey came and everyone basically abandoned Gaga and forgot about her. The hype around self-titled made all pop albums from 2013 a non-factor bar The 20/20 Experience. But I really dislike the attitude that many have. Let's go back to 2011 when BTW was everything, and Bey was a no one with 4. I doubt someone here pitied her at the time. I have big respect for Bey, especially for 4. BEYONCÉ, unfortunately aged so poorly with me. 2 years and half later, when the hype is dead, I can barely make myself listen to the album. It has some of her best songs but it also has pretty boring ones. Whereas 4 is still so good to me, it's a timeless HQ effort which went under the radar. @KURUSHITOVSKA I really wanted to understand your point. I read all your posts. I actually see the place of your dissatisfaction with Bey but I believe it's unfounded. Let me explain. Gaga and Bey are the biggest perfectionists out there in the industry. It is also so common for them to be misunderstood and misjudged for what they do. If there is one fanbase I would expect to understand Bey's stand besides the Hive - that would be us, Little Monsters. It's just so easily to slip into delusion and believe the bullshit written about them everyday. Bey twerking, singing I slay (btw, I bet I hate 7/11 and Formation more than you) is not what it seems. See, a lot of Bey's material is a product of her own views, her own experience. She is a very strong feminist. And she has been given a hard time for being so outspoken. Statements like Flawless and Formation, even DIva, may seem very egocentric, selfish, full of herself, on the outside. But in reality it's a way to express her anger and her pain. It's a "See, I've been through so many sh*t to become who I am, to be where I am, as a woman in the industry, in life. But at the end of the day, I am stronger, I can fight it, I can make it. And so can you" kind of self-assuring statement. I truly wish you that you can make it as a songwriter one day. And I'm sure the battle will not be easy and you'd be willing to write a line or two about your fight. Sometimes a personal statement about empowerment can affect more strongly people. Let's make a comparison with Gaga. We suffer everyday and complain as a fanbse that she is misunderstood. Now, let's get out of the fanbase and look at her discography. Excluding BTW we have 3 quite questionable albums, don't we? If we didn't know what she stands for, I'd say she is super egotistical person. A huge ego overshadowing some talent and an obsession to be popular, famous, liked. Gaga is the embodiment of obsession with the celebrity, with the glamorous life. But would you agree with those statements knowing her fight, her sturggles? ARTPOP especially is dangeroulsy close to that. And it's one of the reasons it was criticised. People who failed to understand it saw it as yet another "me me me I'm famous" album. So what I mean with this comparison is that people have different sensitivity. I'm a goood example. ARTPOP has helped me learn to be myself much more. BTW impact on me is basically zero. And I don't mean to bash it. There are different ways to express the self-empowerment message. Back in 2010/2011 there was a huge wave in music about this. Katy Perry: Cause baby you're firework... Selena Gomez: Who says you're not perfect... Kelly Clarkson: What doesn't kill you makes you stronger... Gaga: all of Born this way But there's another way to give the exact same message with stuff like Formation, Flawless, Aura, Applause, DWUW, GUY. It's a much more practical approach to the idea. It's not singing about YOU, YOU, YOU. It's a statement of ME, I. The whole making of an album like ARTPOP and BEYONCÉ is " I've got to here. I can afford to do this. I am dictating the rules now. I can sing this and celebrate my success and my battle. " So instead of putting the message in the lyrics, it's a "how-to make it" in reality. And I find this much more motivating and touching. I could sing all day long I'm beautiful in my way, that won't necessarily make me a fighter. Songs like Aura, Flawless and Swine have taken the warrior inside me, and I've actually become braver, started to act so that I get into a better place. But I respect that everyone has a different opinion and it's alright. I just hope that you at least a bit would understand why some people like me find this message more successful and effective. At the end of the day, it's good we have the diversity, and the message can reach as many as possible!
