StrawberryBlond 14,777
This question has been asked many times and I don't know why it's so hard for her fans to figure out. 1. I don't get why so many people like her as a person. She's overwhelmingly arrogant and egocentric in her songs which is only acceptable if you're a rapper, which she is not. Seriously, calling herself a queen and saying she slays? Full-grown women don't need to say that in songs except the insecure ones. In reality, a person who acts like this would be laughed at. 2. She puts very little effort into her art. It's mostly the product of others and she just changes a line or two, adds a little bit of diva flair to it (which isn't songwriting) and then puts her name on the credits. She even has the gall to put her name on the credits of cover songs which were not lyrically changed. 3. She steals music video and live performance concepts from others and even songs. She stole If I Were A Boy off the unknown artist, BC Jean and put her name on the credits and didn't even inform the girl of what she'd done. That alone is one reason that I will never support her. 4. For someone who can just sing and dance, she gets far too much praise when there are far more multi-talented artists out there who don't get a tenth of the worship she does. Singing and dancing's good and all, but I value artists on their songwriting and instrument playing on the side. A lot of people can sing and dance but a lot of people can't write songs. They're the ones who should be praised to high heaven, not someone who is just a mouthpiece for other people's creations, no matter how sweet she may sound. Now, this is somewhat controversial, but...for those who think black women don't get the props they should, take a look at how overrated Beyonce is. She gets more respect for being black, if anything. In her genre, being black automatically commands respect regardless of how good you actually are. 5. Her fans are very hard to deal with and seem to permanently talk in internet slang. Criticise one thing about their precious goddess and they go on about how she's flawless and way more successful than you'll ever be and blah blah blah. Fans who view their fave's achievements as their own, basically. Not Beyonce's fault that she has fans like this, but it means her name has a negative connotation even so. Meredith Grey 3,147
I have no idea how Beyonce truly acts as a person but at the current stage in her career I think she's so boring. Her music before like Single Ladies, Halo, Irreplaceable, Crazy in Love, etc. were amazing. But the last album just didn't do it for me. Her voice and dancing (from what I've seen) is among the best. However, I feel like in the last few years she's just kind of coasted through because of her status as a performer and the general love for her. She hasn't made any songs that really made any sort of impact on me since Sasha Fierce. That and her fan base is especially horrible.

Harry 26,836
I really think it's just jealousy. Beyonce is one of the most talented singers and performers of our time and people get upset about her being successful. Can really find no other reason other than jealousy. It's one thing to be unimpressed by her music and then another to be completely adamant that she doesn't deserve what she has worked so hard to achieve. Jealousy. Also certain members here have been known to aim racial prejudice towards her and so probably shouldn't be trusted.

I like artists to stay humble. Beyonce is one of the most talented out there, but I'm not here to watch her earn money with cheap productions, songs, lyrics and telling everyone that she slays. I loved Halo, Sweet Dreams, I Was Here. I hate 7/11 and Formation. You asked why and I gave you a reason. Being confident & sure of your abilities means you aren't humble? And regardless, is that even a bad thing? I feel like Beyonce constantly appreciates how far she has come and those that support her, and tries to send out a good message to them at the same time. Regardless of how much you think CLLGG was 'just for fun', Gaga knows her status/abilties and has made reference to that time and time again. Not just in Cake... In Tweets, interviews and performances etc. There's nothing wrong with recognising how great you are at something and encouraging your fans to celebrate themselves in a similar way. I am inclined to believe this is a gender thing as well. People will criticise strong females like Bey, Gaga and Rihanna for feeling themselves but male rappers and rockstars get away with it all. "I slay" is not being humble. and I'm against people full of themselves wether they're girls or boys, I don't care. I said Beyonce is talented, but saying "I slay" doesn't make her better. If you want to encourage your fans tell them to sing, dance, expose their talents, go to school, learn to play an instrument, or something really useful like Gaga has done in the past. Teaching girls to twerk and that "I slay" expression is not something that i'd find cool, sorry for having these unpopular opinions. I said that I loved her on I Am Sacha Fierce because she was humble. She was just dancing and singing with her raw talent, She didn't need to do anything else, but then she started to twerk on 7/11 and telling everyone that "she slays". I don't care if she is hot, pretty, sexy whatever, I want her talent, not her body. ¿Qué currículum tiene ésta tarántula?
