This makes sales completely meaningless now. In a way, there were good points to incorporating streaming into sales but then it just goes too far and this is a perfect example. Charts are about sales. If it didn't sell, why is it charting? Make a purely streaming chart if you must, but don't involve it with the regular charts. So many tactics these days to make artists look like they're more popular than they actually are and it's endorsed by the industry. It's pretty despicable and unfair on the older artists who didn't have this system when they were in their heyday.

It reminds me of when artists are like "wow I have 1000 number 1 singles" when they're talking about going #1 on iTunes for 5 minutes or have a hit on the adult contemporary charts or w/e

Yes. There are a lot of people out there who think this actually counts for something. The fans don't help but supporting this idea too. Whenever an artist's lead single comes out, the fans are buzzing with "It's #1 in 80 countries!" and suchlike, but then it falls throughout the week and most of these countries are far-flung ones whose charts don't even get printed and where 2 sales is all you need to get a #1. Nothing's solid until the official sales at the end of the week but the fans can't wait to call something an achievement now. As for streaming, at the end of the day, it's just people listening to it. You don't know if that's because they genuinely like it or because they're just checking it out and and might dislike it or only like it as a guilty pleasure but wouldn't actually buy it. That's why I never understood why radio play has always been a big factor in US chart positions. Just because the song's playing on the radio doesn't mean anyone likes it. To have it play such a big role in chart placement makes no sense.

A disgrace to the music industry. Go ahead and plan its funeral. The music industry is dead.

Are you talking about Kanye as an artist or the fact that streaming is now counted on charts, cause if it's about Kanye get ready for the drag i got prepared for you

Destiny is for losers. It’s just a stupid excuse to wait for things to happen instead of making them happen

It was only on Tidal as of last week. Now it's everywhere.

Kanye remains winning and the haters are still trash.

I love it.

I dislike Kanye in every aspect. But I'm mainly talking about the streaming. A number 1 is essentially meaningless now.
