Often cited as Lana's best album (although I'd disagree), four years after its release in January 2012, Born To Die is spending its 218th week on the BB200 at #132, higher than Ultraviolence and Honeymoon, which are not even present.

Born To Die doesn't even have a hit single like most albums with longevity, but that hasn't stopped the album has selling 8.5 million copies worldwide since its release and its singles having hundreds of millions of views and streams.

Video Games: 128M streams on Spotify, 110M views on YouTube

Born To Die: 110M streams on Spotify, 277M views on YouTube

Blue Jeans: 81M streams on Spotify, 180M views on YouTube

Summertime Sadness: 115M streams on Spotify, 311M views on YouTube

The album is known for inspiring many of the other 'indie' pop girls such as Halsey, Lorde and Marina and the Diamonds. Major pop girls have also attempted to ride off Lana's success. Gaga's 'Princess Die' was frequently compared to Lana's work when it was first performed and Taylor's 'Wildest Dreams' is an obvious attempt to hijack Lana's musical style.

Is it a true modern day classic that will go down as one of the most defining albums of the 2010s?

YES. Even though many Lana fans don't like to admit it, BTD is her most cohesive album, where there is not one bad song. Without a doubt it is her most iconic album and I do think that its legacy will live on. I certainly will expose my children to it & make them Stans. :gaycat:

I agree, Ultraviolence and Honeymoon are superior in terms of cohesiveness and overall quality, but Born To Die is the album with the most impact. Paradise is my least favourite from Lana, despite Ride being my favourite Lana song of all time.

Paradise and Born To Die still puts me into an early grave upon every listen. Such beautiful albums. Lana is such a god sent in this day and age. I love how her sound is classic but she has such fresh lyrics. :flutter: Video Games is easily in my top ten favorite songs of all time.

Yes it is and is a timeless album. I prefer the version with paradise edition songs. Dark Paradise, Radio and Without You is my current bops. :flutter:

its a great debut, but its not her best album. I would say that Ultraviolence is her masterpiece, and Honeymoon is truly great.

Born to die has extreme highs and lows. The first half of the album (up to and including "radio") is near perfect, but the second half of the album is quite forgettable, minus Summertime Sadness.

Carmen, million dollar man and lolita are all awful.
