Clinton not sure Sanders is a Democrat

Philadelphia (CNN) - Hillary Clinton stepped up her criticism of Bernie Sanders following his victory in the Wisconsin primary Tuesday, questioning the Vermont senator's fidelity to the Democratic Party and knocking him for his inability to answer questions in an interview with the New York Daily News.

"He's a relatively new Democrat, and, in fact, I'm not even sure he is one," Clinton told Politico's Glenn Thrush in an interview published on Wednesday morning. "He's running as one. So I don't know quite how to characterize him. I'll leave that to him."

The critique was a step further than she usually goes on the subject, which she typically brings up to tout her own long history with the party.

Clinton continued that line of attack on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" Wednesday morning.

Asked if she thinks Sanders is a Democrat, Clinton replied, "I think he himself doesn't consider himself to be a Democrat."

"Look, he's raised a lot of important issues that the Democratic Party agrees with, income inequality first and foremost," she said. "But it's up to the Democratic primary voters to make that assessment. I've been in the trenches for a long time."

Throughout this presidential campaign, Clinton has routinely touted her ties to the Democratic Party, a jab at Sanders, a politician who has caucused with Democrats since 1991 but has never been a member of the party.

This is true and it's funny because she thinks that by saying this she will sway Democratic voters towards her. 

The opposite will happen. People are tired of the 'establishment'

Trump and Sanders are the "anti-establishment" candidates and they are attracting more and more independents. They're on different ends of the spectrum but still incite the same initiative. 

If Trump isn't the nominee and Sanders isn't (which he won't be) and they both decided to run for third parties they would get the most votes EVER for independent candidates. I am very sure of that.

You're right. in the 1960s, Hillary Clinton supported BG. IN THE 1960s! Senator Sanders "decided" to be a Democrat in 2015! He hasn't even been a democrat for ONE SINGLE YEAR! I was actually raised Republican by my parents. Once I turned 19 (after I had already voted Republican once) I decided I actually preferred democratic views. That doesn't make me any less of a Democrat, because I hadn't yet fully developed my political preference.

As a matter of fact, It should sway voters. Bernie's entire campaign is being run on the promise of a "Political Revolution" that relies ENTIRELY on the idea of getting more democrats elected to congress so the president can actually get things done. The funny thing is that Bernie Sanders is doing nothing to support his promise of a revolution. He isn't raising funds or supporting a single person who isn't named Bernie Sanders. Instead, Hillary is actually the one who is supporting Democrats running for the house and Senate seats because she understands that the success of the president relies so much on having a cooperative congress. Bernie would only bring MORE gridlock to our government.

And I wouldn't be too sure about Congress going to the Democrats this year.

The Senate has a good chance of being turned back blue this year. The house has some more work to do, but you can't be so ignorant as to not realize that their terms don't all expire at the same time. We have to work to retain seats in the house and senate in EVERY election. Hillary is helping those democrats that want to take control back of congress so we can get REAL progress made. People should look for the candidate who is going to ACTUALLY get things done rather than say inspirational things but has no plan on how to fulfill the promises he's making.

Key words: "her START in politics" . That was FIFTY years ago! She was raised by a conservative family, but changed over to the anti-war and civil rights movements in the late sixties and became a Democrat as a young adult. 

Bernie has been a Democrat all of ten months. Clinton has been a die-hard Democrat for fifty years now.

Exactly! Hillary has been supporting and raising money for these down ticket Democrats for decades now, and is continuing to do so in the middle of her campaign for presidency. Bernie hasn't lifted a finger or raised a penny for the down ticket Democrats. This alone shows how out of touch he is with what needs to happen in this election.

Like Trump, Bernie has built his campaign on promising things that will never happen, focusing on topics he doesn't even know how to change. He isn't ant-establishment, he's completely unrealistic. 

I expect the next presidential race to be full of these "anti-establishment" people. They will be promising free cars and houses next time and all these gullible voters will believe them! Lol

You were inferring in your previous post that we shouldn't worry about Senator Sanders not supporting other Democratic candidates for congress because we weren't going to get the majority anyway! That's terribly, terribly dangerous and irresponsible to think that way, and implies that you didn't realize that contributing to the numbers now might not prove fruitful immediately, but certainly will later on, when we have more opportunity to add to those numbers!
