Lead Single Research

I'm getting a little bit sick of all these 'when do you think the lead single will drop'-topics. So, I used my journalism skills and did some research for all of you on when the first singles of all her albums (except for The Fame and Cheek to Cheek) were released and how much time there was in between her first talking about them or promoting them.

_____

Conclusion: as you can see she usually starts hyping or hinting about eight months (Applause 10 months, Born This Way 6 months) before a single release. Except for Bad Romance which was all in the same month. I personally believe that this was a great technique, she did it all in the same month which was the month right after her iconic Paparazzi VMA performance which set the tone for the theme of the album.

She started hinting and hyping ARTPOP in August, which was a terrible move. I really hope that she will use the The Fame Monster-technique again and surprise all of us at the end of the summer. She clearly hinted that the theme of the album is gonna be something retro with a 'disco/rock/singer-songwriter'-vibe, now it's just time for us to wait and hope that she will let us know something a month before a single release.

EDIT:

Oh, and I just remembered that she kind of started promoting The Fame Monster way before too by wearing vampire fangs and slowly evolving her style and once tweeting the word MONSTER in May 2009 or something. But it wasn't 'real' promo like she did with ARTPOP.

And yeah, I clearly don't have a personal life.

Well I think (and don't judge me) that since BTW was registered in BMI one month before the release, Gaga will drop "Room In My Heart" as the first single off her album, one month after its appearance on BMI and 9 months after that "LG5 time" post (as in the human birth cycle).

All this tells me is that if she doesn't hype like she did with TFM, then she better start hyping now if she wants the album out by December 2016 :toofunny:

edit: inb4 she's been hyping us this entire time and us flop fans just couldn't piece things together :stalkga:

she always does that :toofunny: who will dare to steal a song from an a-list singer?

My guess is that lead single is the song she and RedOne teased in April 2015 'I am who I am' 'Be You' thing

Didn't she add songs to BMI way before an album or single release without them being singles (like Scheiße for example)? I'm not sure though.

Spoiler

(And kind of not in the mood for any more researching) :toofunny:

No, she usually registers it before she releases it. Born This Way was registered two weeks before it's release and so were all the album songs, before the album release.

well, the majority of the songs from BTW were registered afterwards because Gaga didn't want monsters to find out the titles, even after the tracklist release.

They were registered literally a few days before the release. According to Lady Gaga Wiki anyway.

Some of them were already release, including MTN, BTW, TEOG, Hair, and so on.
