Excuse my uninformed brain on this because I've never played this game but isn't it taking place like a lot of years back?

Just like Game of Thrones. They did include gay couples and such but they ended up being beheaded for their "sin", you know? Maybe they are just trying to show how it was back then on that topic and how out of place some people were feeling because of it. I doubt they would go that far in a game like that. The controversy would've been huge if it was not set in those years.

It doesn't really bother me to be honest. If I'm running around shooting people and stabbing mutants or zombies, the last thing that crosses my mind is having a character say something like cock-sucker or whatever. It's not real. Honestly, I kind of prefer realistic characters instead of politically correct ones. I don't think someone is going to worry about their language when they're faced with near death etc.

Some gamers are scum but then they're also the kind that only go outside to buy Mountain Dew and Doritos so it's not like their opinion on anyone holds weight.

there's scum in every single kind of groups of people, there's plenty of scum on the anti-gamer side too :gaycat:

best thing to do is to just not play with those people :gaycat:

Sugarfall

Mortal Kombat X has a playable gay man and Street Fighter has a transgender woman, and they cause arguments constantly.

Oh of course, I'm just saying these people that get so offended by a gay character or the ones you'll hear screaming n*gger or f*ggot at people on COD are more often than not that stereotypical fat, greasy dude who doesn't leave his mum's basement. We need to pity them :gaycat:

COD is a terrible series anyway, thats like the wasteland of the gaming world, people let the COD community represent the gaming community as a whole way too much :gaycat: and believe it or not, a majority of those shouting slurs are more likely to be kids than adults and i've seen way more people get annoyed by that childish behaviour rather than join in (unless they fight back) :gaycat:

it's like real life: find the right people to hang around with and you'll be fine :gaycat:

Slowly but surely gaming devs are moving forward with the times, I think they're accepting the fact that the next generation of gamers will be vastly different to the current ones and a lot more socially aware, and that the ones crying out against LGBT and racial representation or strong female leads, are the minority.

The word "Cocksucker" and a gay guy with a fetish means nothing to me. Sims 5 being made and not allowing gay romance or interracial relationships however? THAT would bother me. A villain in a game targeting specifically LGBT? Or a certain race? Or women? THAT would bother me.

But some name calling and the such is whatevs, coz I mean how many fcked up STRAIGHT MEN are there in The Witcher series? Tons. And you kill most of them so it's all good

I've played this game for almost 80 hours and at no point did I think it was homophobic or whatever you're trying to prove.

Stop being so overly sensitive

I'm playing The Witcher 3 now as well and it does come across as being developed by a bunch of straight men. I honestly don't know many gay men that are hardcore gamers like me, though, so I get it.

I am playing Blazblue now and I witness a part where a guy was coming onto his own brother hardcore :saladga:

the Witcher has a medievil theme, are you honestly shocked the characters aren't accepting and open minded? :usrs:

Wat.

This is not what I said at all. Go re-read what I wrote, you and those that agree with your post.

The characters cant be accepting and open minded if homosexual characters don't exist in the game in the first place. That's the point. Whether the characters are accepting or not that is entirely a matter of world building and not the concern of this thread.

The word doesnt bother me either and the characters that say as well as the environment and the context they say it in, it is fitting. However when you couple it with the other occurrences such as the only two gay characters, the fact that there is a complete lack of any other characters of that kind in the span of three games and the other fact that there's quite some women x women scenes for the pleasure of Geralt/the gamer, and stuff like that, that makes me feel like this franchise is being developed by a bunch of straight males that are less than sympathetic towards gay males. That bunch of males (developers) is the point of this discussion, and how many others like them there are out there.

this really isn't that big of an issue, it's way more a first world problem, nothing urgent has to happen :neyde:

i play games to escape reality and i've never played a game where i've been attacked or offended or left out for being gay :neyde:

if you really feel this franchise is being developed by males and straight people, go research the developers and if that also bothers you, good luck getting that to change on the online gamer world :neyde:

personally, developers shouldn't be hired for diversity sake, always for skill level or talent otherwise you'll end up with something like Brianna Wu's game :saladga:

So what if the game is being developed by "a bunch of straight males"? Like someone else had said there shouldn't be a gay developer just for the sake of diversity. Just like there shouldn't be gay scenes just the sake of diversity. Geralt is a straight male character so yes there is going to be scenes for the pleasure for him. While The Witcher series is an RPG the player character has his own back story and therefore some set choices. You said in your first post you like Bioware games for their diversity so if it really bothers you that much maybe just don't play the game? Or if it REALLY bothers you then learn to code/develop games and make something that is more akin to what you would like to see and put it our yourself.

Next time quote the whole thing, as in "a bunch of straight males that are less than sympathetic towards gay males". With what you quoted and what you wrote I'm led to believe that you either have anger management issues and you couldn't read the whole thing or (more likely) you're one of the CDPR forum homophobes that say "go play BW games, no agendas here".
