Kanye West 1,676 Posted April 4, 2016 Share Posted April 4, 2016 I was talking with others and they said that Gaga has become basic over the past few years. Tbh it's true to an extent. ARTPOP was dull and basic. Her appearance and performance at the Oscars 2015 was amazing and TIHTY was good too, but besides that I'd say it's fair criticism. She has ditched her whole avant-garde image for a much more "normal" image. Not just musically, but image-wise as well. Just to note, this isn't a hate thread. Spoiler Well, considering ARTPOP (2013/ a little of 2014) was her last main era (No hate for C2C) she's fine, I mean, we won't see her with couture (I wish ) everyday when there's nothing to promote or a concept to follow, I think it was billboard woman of the year magazine where she said she's still working on the image/concept for LG5, so, we have to wait. ❝Is not blue, not turquoise, not lapis. But this is now, wait until the era starts... I don't think Gaga wants and has to keep her whole career about her outrageous image. Just because she dressed like everyone else, does not mean she already conform to what people expect of her aka going basic. Dig deeper. Or be patient. Her performances are still elaborated, someone basic wouldn't sing TIHTY and raise it's voice about topics that the majority of the people don't talk about. Someone basic wouldn't star in a show like AHS, which talks about topics that made some people uncomfortable (addictions, madness, oppression, religion). She's just doing different things, going from one place to another. In that case, i'd say that she was more basic a couple of years ago than today. She only played the pop star woman.
