The planet, called KELT-4Ab, orbits one parent star which in turn is orbited by two more. This is only the fourth three-star system ever discovered.

It was found by a team working at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics who documented it in a paper published in The Astronomical Journal.

Known as a 'Hot Jupiter' the gas planet is positioned unusually close to its parent star, known as KELT-A. It takes roughly three days to orbit its main star. The second and third stars (KELT-B and C) are further away and orbit each other over the course of 30 years.

By the time you reach the end of this sentence, it'll be too late to realize I just wasted your time with a pointless sig.

holy **** 3 days to orbit? does that mean it's closer to the sun than the earth is or is it just moving faster through space? i mean doesn't jupiter take 70+ years to orbit the sun one time? LOL

probably faster :poot:

I mean Jupiter only has 9 hours in a day :poot:

that means its year is 3 days long. and yeah, it's moving faster

so with your example of jupiter: it takes 4,332 days, or 12 Earth years (rounded up), in order to complete one Jupiter year

uranus is the one you're thinking about. that takes 84 Earth years just to have one Uranus year :poot:

Dam, even if its as close as mercury or even a bit closer... Either the star is a very small star, or the orbit is super fast (or both) for a year to last only 3 days

Also, the planet cannot be SUPER close because even with a rapid orbit, a planet with the mass of Jupiter would be sucked into its sun by its gravity
