Do you think LG5's lead single will be as commercially successful as Work?

Work is considered a success? Really? Didn't it sell barely 17,000 copies last week? There were eight songs on the Hot 100 that sold more, yet we want to consider it some sort of benchmark for success? Being No 1 means nothing anymore. I want a sleeper hit like Just Dance, rather than an instant hit that just declines and declines and is forgotten about after two weeks.

If it was a sleeper hit that debuted at like #81 or somewhere low this fanbase would be dragged so hard

If it's with Ronson and RedOne yes. With Zedd or DJWS maybe. Anyone else eh. With promo she will do fine. Without promo it could die. But Aris doing great with minimal promo, only SNL & an a Cappella video. So it depends. Gaga just gotta become a streaming monster soon

For five weeks. One more week until it is on par with Born This Way (song)'s success.

But yes the chart is tragic. Applause sold 2.5 million copies in the US and wasn't even #1. What Do You Mean by Justin Bieber sold only 1.6 million copies in America and was #1.

Work has been #1 for five weeks yet it's US sales is only 950,000 copies.

Tbh Work is not declining as you say.

Btw Anti was the one that sold 17,000 copies last week, not Work. Anyway, Anti sold 54,000 equivalent units so it's not really 17,000.

Dragged? By who? Other fanbases? Well, what if it debuts at 81, then moves to the top 5 the following week, then number 1 in the third week? Then who would have the last laugh?

The fact of the matter is is that there are too many possibilities and trajectories. Too many variables: how good the song is, promo, what else is in the charts etc.

Yet Gaga has mastered the art of surprise.

People used to think they knew what to expect with Gaga. But after the Super Bowl, the Oscars, the Golden Globes the GP is now reassessing what they used to think they knew about her.

They're also so damn tired of the current lame ass pop charts, and want to be blown away by something spectacular, vaguely familiar yet brand new, and life reaffirming.

The time has never been more ready for Gaga.

The GP loves gaga and is thirsty for new gaga music and u can't deny it. Gaga has been working on this mother-friggling for 2 years now and she always deliver . Even without an album she's everywhere with much praise and success . Bobby has been doing fantastic job and is doing his work amazingly hes probably working on the endless promo for LG5  . Imagine when she release new music . :excited2::rockstar:👌🚑

If you compare Work with the lead singles off all of Rihanna's eight other albums (We Found Love, Diamonds, Only Girl, Umbrella, Russian Roulette, Disturbia, SOS, Pon de Replay) it is her worst performing lead single yet. And that is by her own standards. AND that is after making her fans wait three years, instead of the usual one year.

Wait Pon de Replay and SOS are more successful than Work?

I doubt they stayed on top of the chart for at least 5 weeks? Btw there's no rule saying the longer you let your fans wait, the more you are probably likely to sell. I don't think that's a valid argument.
