She has one album out officially that sold maybe 50k total 212 and her other individual releases are not even @ 1 million sales either No shade, I'm an AB fan (of her music at least ) just curious why you think this She does a whole lot of touring and concerts. Especially during the beginning 2014. She was on stage everywhere in front of large crowds. Plus she made half a million during the debut of Broke With Expensive Taste Lady Gaga/ Madonna/Lana /Azealia Banks/ Jazmine Sullivan/ DEEE-LITE/ Moko

Even though her net worth is 3 million, by the end of 2014 she made almost 6 million. I root for you. I love you. You, you, you, you.

Well she was in musicals with this production company since she was 11. She's musically trained even before she started rapping. Training in acting too. And she also had an agent and was going on auditions for shows on networks like Nickelodeon and stuff but as she puts it, she was spinning her wheels and not going anywhere, thats when she decided to move on to taking rapping seriously. I root for you. I love you. You, you, you, you.

I just hate having to hear her generalisations of white gays but I suppose it's sourced from her experiences in real life and online so I can't discredit her I think it comes from a place as a black female where you are constantly stereotyped and degraded. You have to bust your ass to get anywhere and even then you might not. The mentality in the black community, from what I've heard and read from friends and essays, is that nothing is given to you and have to work as hard as possible for what you want. Contrast that with what she calls "the white gay mentality" where there is still a certain white, male presumption of privilege, if that makes sense. Like, she's calling them out for claiming that they deserve something because from her background, no one deserves anything except for what you work for. I think there's some validity there (to an extent), but she also phrases herself very specifically in ways that will draw controversy. It's probably intentional since, like she said, she isn't going to mince words, but it definitely can be off-putting. Like she said, Kanye'll say crazy **** and people will say, "that's just Yeezy", but with her, people think that as a woman she needs to sit down and shut up. Idk if I wholly agree with that (because she does fuel the angry black woman stereotype a bit), but I THINK that's what she's saying.

There's nothing wrong with that. Why do so many people major in business fields at universities? It isn't because they're passionate about the ins and outs of a cubicle. They want to make some big, solid cash and easily get a job. Good on them for going after what they want in the way they best know how.

Not good for homophobes listening to this tho', gives them bad ideas to take...

I appreciate you explaining that to me, thank you I completely agree that it's harder for black women to find work, especially in an industry where the media and how you look plays an important role. She does feed into the 'aggressive black woman' stereotype but I've also seen the media guilty or poorly representing her through titles and images. I don't really understand the claiming from her background thing, what is there to claim? Generalisations should just be avoided from all communities, associating being privileged with the gay community doesn't really reside well with me. As a gay person I'm still a minority regardless of my skin colour and there are certain limitations, stereotypes and abuse that we have to face as well. It comes across like she thinks all gay men are misogynistic and that's just not true. I think she lacks context and speaks too generally sometimes, if she's talking talking about one person in particular she should clarify that and speak directly of that incident instead of labelling an entire community off the actions of one person. Whether it's the 'white gay mentality' or 'white gay media' I don't think her problem really resides in the gays and it's more general to just being white males. Then it moves to white male supremacy within corporate roles, etc which I can agree with is very present. People label Kanye crazy and don't take him seriously because he's so self righteous. Azealia is controversial for being outspoken and coming after people, I don't really think it's fair to compare the two I'm really not trying to stir anything or cause a disruption, I'm curious to see what other people think. So thanks for not coming for me AB fans

So thanks for not coming for me AB fans You're welcome, and thanks for a cogent response. What I mean by white gay male privilege is that, yes, gays are a minority with their own struggles, but being white and male gives you access to certain privileges not awarded to other minorities. It's the difference of a news story saying a cute, white gay boy was beat up vs. a black gay boy. One will *likely* be attributed to gang violence, the other will be victimized and sympathized with. The core idea, and this comes from queer theory and feminist theory, not my own, is that everyone has some level of privilege whether that comes from financial wealth, race, sexuality, nationality, etc. What I think AB's talking about is how white gay men think they deserve equal treatment and deserve what they want, an idea which she sees as coming from the assumptions associated with white maleness. That is definitely a generalization, but she can also talk about it from experience. You're definitely right, her problem does not seem to be specifically with gay males as it does with white males. She takes particular pot shots at white gay males, though, because they have a certain minority status. With that minority status, she thinks that no one "deserves" anything, nothing is yours to take. That is something very true to the female and black communities historically. So, like in this interview, she says white gay guys will grab all over (or whatever she said), she means that they feel entitled to do that and that entitlement she has a problem with. It comes from the white male factor, not the gay, but I think it bothers her that there is that entitlement at all from a minority group. I think her opinion on this is a lot more complex than people give her credit for even if they disagree with it. It speaks to a certain awareness of social connections even in spite of the generalizations. Yeah, I don't fully agree with the Kanye comparison because he has produced some truly great stuff that was widely praised while she has yet to. Even then, I find his rants stupid.
