I've always thought she is her strongest behind a piano and I hope for a full unplugged album soon.

Not here for that if it's a main release. Maybe as a side project that's full of piano versions of some of her hits, but not as a main album. It limits her demographic and fan base way too much.

Her and her fans have definitely matured over the years, and I feel like it should be time for her music too. Don't get me wrong, I love her older, more pop-dance type music, but we've seen that Gaga's definitely matured over the years, her voice especially. She can literally sing anything, from classical, to pop, to jazz, to rock, you name it, she can sing it.

Personally, I think it's time to take it a step further, I'm hoping for a rock/funk/pop album, with a hint of disco, like I Want Your Love. But, when I say 'rock' I mean songs like The Queen and You and I; Born This Way did a great job of mixing rock with her signature pop flare.

And, now that the G.P. knows for a fact that she can sing, why not capitalize on that? She should have more ballads—personally, I like Dope. So overall, while I don't think that the fans that want her to do dance music are in the minority, I just think it's time for her music to mature a bit, because she certainly has.

I never said being against piano ballads, etc. and I obviously know that she experiments with different genres with her records. There's always pop mixed with some of genre in her releases so im fully comfortable and aware that LG5 will sound different.

My issue and concern are the fans that what to completely do away with her using pop/dance music on this next record. Some want disco but don't even realize that disco is a type of dance music as well as funk and even some forms of rock.

I can picture Gaga resurecting Rock if marketed properly

Seriously guys music industry trends go thru cycles no genre remains dominant forever

when i was in school in mid 2000s and everything was R&B, Urban and the popular artists were all gangster, no one would of guessed Dance/Pop was the next big thing :air:

It only lasted like 6 years tho, then hip-hop and R&B became the biggest genres out there.

But this goes against her premise, that is, to expand a very good idea. She'll never be completely different. It'll always be there: the europop, glam rock etc.

No it does not. This is expansion complete.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

I'm a young person who is mature beyond his years, so I relate to both teens as well as their parents and grandparents. And I have have been astounded at all of Gaga's live performances in the last year. She's really genreless, a rare kind of talent. So I have enough faith in Gaga's lyrical and vocal abilities that no matter what she decides to do, I will be there to support her and rock along, with it whether it's disco, funk, punk, metal or dance. She's going to blow society's collective mind.

"Dance Music" is a whole macro genre though.

why wouldn't you want something you can move to?

Do y'all mean EDM? Because "Dance Music" is basically tons of styles from rock to hip hop to electronic.

I think a lot of fans don't even realize what they want. Sometimes I think it's just fans trying to speculate what will be likely "cool" next and want Gaga to hop on it.

These fans often misunderstand the difference between hopping on a genre at the right time and making it work for a year or two (1989, Teenage Dream)

-or-

coming into the industry with a new sound that people like and admire so much, others begin to imitate it (The Fame, 21)

The latter is more difficult, but it sets you apart from being a super successful pop star (Katy Perry, Rihanna, Taylor Swift) or an innovative pop musician (Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Adele).

If Gaga can make something both completely different than what she has done but wildly catchy and viable for a mass audience, she will have a repeak. It's like I have always said, If Gaga wants another 'The Fame Monster', she should do everything she can to not make another 'The Fame Monster'.

I love Gaga's dance music but I'd also be here for a couple of her more, "rock" songs. (Ex, Brown Eyes and Speechless). Idk, I'd still be happy with whatever we got tho.

This fan base (like many others actually) is very fickle. Up until Born This Way, I feel like we collectively didn't ask much of her except for more new music, but ever since then, on top of that, we beg her for certain things, and sadly, I honestly believe it's all about success/acclaim. Up until Born This Way, she was without question the #1 star in the world, and from her debut until that point, as I mentioned, our demands were, from what I remember at least, just pleas for new music. But then her star started to dim just slightly. Noticing this, many wanted her to go back to the fun, catchy dance music we got in The Fame and The Fame Monster and lessen up on the grittier, less hook filled pop music we heard in Born This Way. She was kind enough to give us this in ARTPOP, but when this saw only fair reception from the public, the fanbase's yearning for dance music seemed to disappear fairly quickly. With the success and acclaim of Cheek to Cheek and the tribute act era she's been in for a bit now, fans have now suddenly come to 'love' natural, organic sounds that will help Gaga show off her voice. Perhaps I'm just being cynical, but our collective demands seem to revolve around whatever will paint Gaga in a good light (or so we believe) to the GP, and this is just sad in my opinion. I don't care if I am in the minority, but I do want more dance and electronic music, whether that be dance-pop, EDM, house, trap, trance, 'chilltronica', etc. There's so many subgenres under the dance/electronica umbrella and contrary to what many stans think, Gaga hasn't delved into many of these. (But in my opinion she has been successful at the ones she has worked with.) I kind of have my doubts that Gaga is working with the dance/electronic genre for this album, but I do hope I'm wrong. Even if it's not her personal favorite genre, (which I'm a little on the fence about), it is her career's home genre (in conjunction with the general 'pop' genre) for better or worse, and I'd argue that many of us wouldn't be here if she had debuted in a different genre, if only because she may not have even broken through if she had tried pushing her debut with a different sound. I have confidence that I'll be here for LG5, but this time, I hope she listens to herself instead of fans, because even if we think we're just trying to give her the advice that's 'best' for her career, we've been wrong more than once. Sorry for the essay. :rip:

Your very true! To me Gaga is pop and dance music, obviously not all her music, I want dance music as I love dancing to her music and the dance choreography is fun to watch/learn! On the flip side I love her piano/ slower songs, to me a Gaga album without a dance song isn't a Gaga album, for me I'd like pop, rock, jazz and funk music on lg5

How are you a fan if you dump her when she does something that isn't your style? I'll be a fan if she releases an album of farts. I won't love it but I wouldn't ever not be a fan.

First of all, I never said I was going to dump her because she releases a ballad album. All I said was that I wouldn't really like it/care for it as a main release. Second off, who the HELL are you to ask if people are a fan or not? People are allowed to express their opinion on different mediums of music. Just because I want something or you want something doesn't diminish the fact that's we're all fans. That kind of nasty hate spitting that some of you "fans" do because people have a differing opinion is the real tragedy in this case. Ugh. Nasty and rude. Trashy.
