Poor girl. The type of hate she gets is really disgusting. If you don't like her, just switch off (when will people realise that the best way to make celebrities who you don't like go away is just to not talk about them at all?) But people who seem to want her career to end are taking it way too far. Like she said, she's on a work visa in the US, so her music is her job and if she doesn't have that, she has to go back to Australia and her whole life's in the US. Just let the girl be. By the looks of things, she'll never be as big as Fancy again anyway. There are so many lesser talented 'artists' out there who really should do one. Save your hate for them.

She knows damn well that if it wasn't for those tweets and the fact she sounds like a nasal woman from The Bronx on her songs, people would've given her a pass. She's not horrible, she makes bops from time to time, but she is no Kendrick Lamar, Lil' Kim, Lauryn Hill or Queen Latifah. She is a cute girl that has a sort of lighthearted pop/rap fusion. She isn't talking about life struggles like NAS or about black women's issues like Queen Latifah did. But that's not why she get's all the hate now. It's in addition to making racist comments in the first place. The black community has given loads of "passes" to white girls rapping. Look at Fergie. But all of that is going out of the window if Fergie tweets some stupid racist sh*t tomorrow.

She needs to show respect for the community and lend her voice to the issues from a community and a genre that brought her the success she's had and quit the stereotype "black" rap voice. She knows damn well that's whats up.

Oh, no, it's not that simple. If she rapped in her Aussie accent, people would have given her 10x worse hate because they want to hear an American accent in rap, which is way foreign rappers can't make it in the States with their native accents. And plenty of people post stupid stuff on Twitter and they're mega famous and have tons of fans, so no, her tweets wouldn't really be here or there. And who cares if she isn't singing about serious issues? There should be all different kinds of music for different purposes. Plenty of black rappers make lighthearted rap and don't get criticised (not to mention how many untalented ones there are out there who are much worse than Iggy but actually get respect). It's all such double standards. And by the way, Fergie isn't white - she's mixed race. Plus she only does an occasional bit of rapping, she's a singer first and foremost. The urban community are far more likely to give a pass to you if you have a bit of black in you. Iggy would get a lot less hate if she were mixed, guaranteed.

Iggy's lived in the US for ten years - you can hear in her speaking voice how she's picked up the accent. She's worked with blacks, managed by a black man, got a black boyfriend. She naturally picks stuff up. I could totally get the hate for her accent if she'd literally just got off a plane and had never been out of Australia in her life, but no. She's made a life for herself in the US (and the south at that) for a decade and surrounded herself with black Americans. Of course she'll pick up their way of doing things. Plus, whites feel a lot of pressure to change their accent when they rap because their own sounds so funny since we're so used to one defining rap voice and will accept no other substitutes.
