littlepotter 75,146
Remember how Bad Romance was Youtube's most viewed video? I waa on this thread And I was like damn since when does this basic stuff hit one billion so easily So naturally I thought about Bad Romance and went to check on its rank. It's number ****ing 65. When did that happen?! Am I that unupdated? I figured it would at least be in the top 20. Now that I think about it I was pretty dumb to think so because there are literally more than 20 videos with more than 1B views. What's more frustrating is that BR is more iconic than any of those shitty mvs. #JusticeForBadRomance chaeri pls
kvnrp 48,353
Since most people don't buy music or pay for a streaming service, they just use YouTube as their music player. So it's nothing special when a song hits a billion views anymore, Gaga was just the first (and still the best imo). LG5's singles could probably easily hit a billion as well. Sunday 2,183
Bad Romance was released on 2009. At that time, it was a tad bit tedious to open youtube. I mean you have to get home to sit in front of your pc at that time. I dont even know if tedious is the right term for that But my point is, its a lot easier to access youtube these days, thanks to the convenience of smart phones, apps, mobile datas and wi-fis. And because of that, its easier and faster to get views on youtube since it can portably viewed anywhere and at anytime.

2007 5,291
BR was released in 2009 honey, we're in another time, a new audience. Most of the stuff that was released in 2009 and early 2010 didn't make it to 500M so let alone 1B.
Alien Tulip 12,428
At the end of the day..none of those videos will have the memories that Bad Romance forever holds. Bad Romance was talked about more than any of those videos. It totally shook the pop world and confused people but it was great seeing a pop star like Gaga totally being ballsy and changing into a more avant garde image in the mainstream pop world. Gaga was avant garde and "weird" during the fame era and I love the fame era the best but it wasnt until the vmas 2009 and Bad Romance that people realized she is not going anywhere and there is something different about her. Gaga was never the typical blonde pop star. During the fame era she was tan and blonde but her fashion was futuristic, her songs were not the typical sex songs since they had more intelligent thought provoking lyrics and her performances were all authentic. During the fame monster she pushed herself further and that is why Bad Romance is still viewed as one of the most iconic music videos of all time. None of these other artists have the power to film a music video as terrifyingly powerful and thought provoking as the bad romance video. It's an intimidating video which is why its often compared. Quartz 12,535
Just for reference, Gangnam Style was the first video to ever hit a billion views. That alone should tell you what kind of "achievement" this is Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊
eifulien 2,968
Well if she is to have another big hit she will break so easily all her previous records. It's kinda scary to think how fast our lives evolve with technology advancements. I mean we are talking about a video from 6 years and half ago and yet it's from an era with very different consumption habits of music. Making comparisons is useless. The social media has taken over after that so much Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, iTunes, Google Play, Instagram, Snapchat, WhatsApp, Spotify, I get a headache from the number of profiles even I have since I consider myself a mild user. Anyway, the easier access will benefit her a lot. Rn "flop" singles have about 200-300 million views so she be getting much bigger numbers than previous eras.
