jojuun 4,159
This entire thread is so rude, being the Madonna fan that I am, I just feel sorry for all of you poor bastards who can't seem to understand this woman's genius and what she has done for women in music and women in our world, period. Without her, pop culture would be SO different. We wouldn't even have Gaga in the same way that she is today. Gaga always mentioned Bowie, Prince, Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury and.... Madonna as her inspiration. Can't you people see Madonna is the only woman in that aforementioned list? She is the only female to have stood next to these men and basically say "whatever you guys can do, I can do and maybe even better." And she did. Her peers all have pretty much faded, succumbed or died underneath the pressures of mega-fame. She's the only one left that works like this and has a demand like this. And she achieved that by being an incredibly dedicated, disciplined, hard-working woman. Madonna works like an athlete. Even in between album era's, she's constantly focused on being sharp and ready to take on a year-long world tour. Yet she get's reduced to the "reductive" comment and being "an old attention wh*re" on this forum. I wonder where y'all are going to be when Gaga's 60 and get's ageist comments. Ageism is discrimination. It's also ALWAYS women who get it, so it's also sexism. So in conclusion: what a discriminatory, ageist and sexist, thread this is... When she's gone, her genius will be praised, just like Michael. Like she said in 1995 "maybe when I'm dead, they'll finally kiss my *ss."
AJH219 4,448
I know its the NY Post, but this article was just too good to share. The final paragraph is the best and relevant to this discussion But if decades of Madonna-watching has taught us anything, it’s that she likes to give fans and others the emotional insight they seek — but on her own terms. Even when she’s seemingly coming off the rails, she’s firmly in control. Manipulation is just part of Madonna’s savvy. So gaze into her mind if you want, but just know that she’ll be gazing back into yours. http://nypost.com/2016/03/14/madonna-shrewdly-turns-personal-turmoil-into-a-compelling-show/ 'All our dreams can come true IF we have the courage to pursue them'-Walt Disney

She put on a special side show for fans for free if you were one of the lucky ones to get a ticket and she made it so that no scalpers could get the tickets, just the fans that were issued the tickets. It's called Tears of a Clown. It's an avant garde show with Madonna as a clown. She sung mostly deep tracks she never performs off of American Life, Music, etc, did the cover of Tears of a Clown. She sat and talked to the fans opening up,talking about her father, etc., and, yes, had a drink on stage. She told jokes. It was performance art at its most intimate with her coming out as a clown on a tricycle but showing her fans her most vulnerable side, channeling her pain. All of the fans absolutely raved about the concert after and felt so privileged to be able to see it. If Gaga did this as a side show during her regular tour she would be raved about on here as groundbreaking. It was an experimental. personal show for free in an intimate theatre that 1,500 fans got to see for free. She called it a work in progress and to consider it as if they were watching a rehearsal. She is hurting and incorporated that into her show, but this Tears of a Clown show was deliberate and something she had thought about and had been working on in her mind to execute. She chose it as a gift to do first in Australia for the fans since she hadn't been there in so long. The rag mags are taking photos of this and using it to turn it into Madge is drunk and falling apart. You can look elsewhere and see the truth of what the concert was and even a great review of it, plus what her fans there tweeted. It sounds like she plans to do it again? Can you imagine your fave offering free tickets to fans only at an intimate 1500 capacity theatre for an experimental avant garde show while in the middle of their regular tour? It sounds exciting to me and the chance of a lifetime to see an icon doing something so different artistically even at this age, when the Rebel Heart Tour was exciting enough.. It's really sad how people and the media are twisting this to be something it isn't. What she did seems really sweet and I respect her immensely for it. I have my problems with Madonna, but I won't allow them to blind me from the her likable qualities and examples of artistry.

I recommend you the book "Life With My Sister Madonna" by Christopher Ciccone At the end he says: "I've finally had enough. So now, I sit alone in my bedsit, bitter, yet content, praying for the moment Madonna's career hits the skids and her kids end up in therapy. Just like me." sursumd 44
Here she is a few days ago telling an officer working at her show, in front of 20,000 people, that he better not wear her hat so she doesn't end up with pimples all over her forehead like him. After the entire arena bursts into laughter at this mans ugly skin she then says "just kidding he is a beautiful man". Just kidding? I'm sure he actually does have pimples all over his forehead. Madonna chose to slam someone and call out a physical flaw in front of 20,000 people, humiliating, insulting and embarrasing him and then thought an empty shallow cover up compliment would make it all okay, I love pop music and great pop artists. Madonna is a great pop artist. That, however, does not permit her to treat people in whatever fashion she pleases. I question those who defend her endlessly and say "thats just the way she is". Okay, well she is just an awful person then. Fabulously rich, fabulously famous, has more than anyone could ever ask for... and she feels the need to point out other peoples flaws for her own personal sick amusement. I will not worship someone like this. I am better than this.

Stop comparing them, They're two different ppl. Gaga doesn't have children so how the hell you're gonna pull a "Well gaga doesn't.." HUSH! Everyone deals with pain differerently. Her fans enjoyed the show so let her be This so much. Also, you guys are really overrating Gaga's actual discography if you think it's anywhere near as great as Madonna's. "I am better than this", lol if you say so yourself but nobody's asking what you're like. It's called having a dry sense of humour. It's not Madonna's fault that you're so overly sensitive lmao. So many Gaga fans seem so sensitive. Some people iterally hating on M for years because she called 1 Gaga song reductive though, lol honestly have some other interests guys, that's beyond pathetic.
