gummybear 151 Posted March 11, 2016 Share Posted March 11, 2016 Hey guys, I'm from Hungary, but I'm fascinated about the whole election system in the US and very interested in the presidential campaigns, but there are still many things that are unclear for me. Can someone please summarise the current situatuin for me and also share your thoughts about how do you think this whole thing will turn out? Who is more likely to represent the Democrats, Hillary or Bernie? What about the chances of Trump becoming the president at the end of the day? Who do you support? You have several candidates on each side running under the parties banners. It's kind of like the NFL playoffs. You have the NFC and AFC. One AFC champion meets one NFC champion in the superbowl. Right now the parties are having primary contests to decide the nomination or "the champs". Whoever wins the most delegates on the republican side will be the Republican nominee and whoever wins the most delegates on the Democratic side will be their nominee. Luiz 4,253 Posted March 11, 2016 Share Posted March 11, 2016 bernie doesnt have the support (i'm still voting for him tho) so he will lose. hillary should get the nom and trump will get the nom for the republicans. i think trump beats her especially if bernie decides to stay in as a third party(not sure if hes interested in an independent run) he will take votes away from hillary. i honestly think that even if bernie stays out trump will beat her. there isnt anything really exciting about her to me other than the fact that shes a woman. to me shes just more of the same and that isnt what people want i dont think. they will come out in droves for trump because republicans actually come out to vote. my dad is involved in politics and he says according to polls of who is a dem and republican, the dems outnumber republicans by a lot but the elections always show that not enough dems are voting. maybe most of them are young and dont care as much or pay attention but conservatives do so they will take this election imo. never know though i guess so.. yeah. viva la trump get on the winning team before its too late lol jk I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it. Luiz 4,253 Posted March 11, 2016 Share Posted March 11, 2016 and btw if i'm right then this means trump has a **** ton of republicans excited to come out and vote and even the republicans who might hate him and vote against him are still republicans. when they come to congressmen, even if they go against trump in the presidency they will get down to voting for congress and check that R instead of the D. so even if republicans come out against trump the fact that there is a lot of them voting might mean that congress which is republican majority right now could be even more dominated by republicans after the election. so donald trump with a heavily republican congress means he might be able to pass whatever he wants or whatever the republicans want. this view of "oh he cant win, he has no chance" needs to end. At this stage, only pledged delegates should be considered as super delegates are not locked in until the convention (just as they switched from Hillary to Obama in 08). The DNC head just came and asked news outlets to discontinue the method of including supers because it confuses people in this way. As for Ron Paul...he never had a fraction of the actual support that Bernie has, nor did he ever win a single state nor come 2nd. Bernie has won MANY states, and just won Michigan in the biggest primary upset in the history of presidential primaries with over a 20 point swing. The dem race is far from decided. It'll take place on November 8th. We'll have our Democratic nominee, and our Republican nominee anytime in the coming months (or as late as June) to know who will match-up for the Presidential race.
