I have to agree with that, our female peers are getting a two year head start on us. However, you're going to see and experience so many things that isn't possible without NS. Meeting and working together with people from different walks of life is really an eye-opener. Also, you might meet some people who you can call friends for a long time to come which isn't possible without committing 2 years of your life

That is sad, I never understand why some countries still have mandatory military service, especially SG, since the country is pretty much safe from threats, unlike South Korea who always need to be ready in case the North attacks.

As annual visitor, I never get that deep about SG. Not really familiar with their politics. All the friends there were only taking us around but never really introduce us with their politics.

But I do feel somekind of antispetic feelings each time. Like ot is way too clean but there must be something dirty hidden somewhere.

Aside from the strong Catholicism there, my partner said SG haven't recognise LGBT yet because of their neighbor Malaysia. As a Muslim country, if SG ever to recognise LGBt, that might cause a rift with their closest neighbor. But that is just an opinion of course.

Speaking about Catholicism though, my partner is not amused, we went to St.Andrew each time we visited but last year he said was the last straw cos he doesn't like the backward teachings, which only between black and white, he said Hong Kong cathedrals are way more evolved than SG in that matter as they recognise the grey area. lmao.

The religious faith here is messed up, my aunt took me on a tour of her workplace at a church once and i saw their noticeboard which is pretty homophobic . They wouldn't be very vocal speaking out against the "homosexual agenda" but it is definitely frowned upon and should be referred to a senior pastor. Needless to say, i never went back.

That is something that angers me a lot. Outsiders only know us for being clean, rich, uncorrupted, a foreigners's heaven, and they just don't give a **** about the rest. Many things are truly hidden and not many people from the outside know about, and it's all on purpose. Our government knows that such things can discourage investment from foreigners.

You're serving with other people your age and they'er pretty liberal. There's quite a few people who are flamboyantly gay in my camp and people are fine with it, there are also female regulars serving inside. But yeah, if you have the financial support from your parents to chase your dreams, go for it.
