Yeah I definitely like it more than positions. My favorites are Bye, We Can't Be Friends (also did you watch the mv for it? The emotions I went through watching that ) and Imperfect For You

i just did and wow that was beautiful. i watched the movie when i was younger but the way she changed the ending kinda broke me tho but it makes sense cuz irl that's how it usually like. :noparty: its very rare u ever reconnect and ig its just better not too.

Sure! Two songs I'd recommend off the bat are Hikari and Flavor of Life.

Hikari (and its English version, Simple and Clean) was the theme song to the first Kingdom Hearts game, so it got very famous especially for a Japanese song released back in the early 2000s.

Flavor of Life was a gigantic success. She released it shortly after wrapping up a really successful tour, "Utada United 2006" so there was naturally a lot of hype around it. It was the equivalent of Gaga releasing the "Born this Way" single after the Monster Ball. But what made it so successful was that in addition to there being two versions for people to buy (the original and a ballad version), she also released several ringtones (back when people paid for ringtones :rip: ) which sold over two million copies before the full song was even released. It ultimately became the second highest selling song in the world for 2007 (Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" was #1 and Rihanna's "Umbrella" was #3, to give you a sense of how popular a song had to be to achieve that). You can listen to both versions here:

I'd be happy to recommend some more if you want. Let me know if you're looking for slow songs or upbeat songs - also if you want to dig into her older work like these two, or her more recent stuff (which is generally more acoustic and jazz-inspired than these).

Adding to Posh's recommendations, here are a few upbeat tracks by Utada I really love:

  Reveal hidden contents

A 90s house track from her debut album that still holds up really well:

One of the highlights from her 2015 comeback album after a long hiatus:

A hyperpop-esque bop from her latest album:

Ok I'm loving this teaser.

I'm loving Rooftop and Love Myself so far. Also her dancing in the elevator was so cute :sara:

chungha is BACKKKKK

I love I'm Ready <3 It's very standard chungha sound but that's what she's great at so. :legend:

Idk why she didn't make it the title. But I guess since it's very similar to stay tonight (which underperformed I think) so maybe she wanted to do something new?

Eenie meanie needs to grow on me ngl. The beat reminds me of Crazy Over You. Like it sounds interesting but I don't think it's well executed in eenie meanie. It's catchy tho.

Wendy's new song is out rn:

I like it but it's giving cute background music help :toofunny: She sounds amazing on it tho. But I wish she went harder ig. Since this is very safe pop which leans a little bit into soft rock. Wouldve been more interesting if there was a bit edge to it.

Btw the YooA highlight melody sounds great. The 2nd one sounds the most intriguing to me. Especially that chorus. :firega:

Ngl I was expecting something a bit harder seeing how she looked and the name of the song itself. It's a very cute way of wishing someone hell lol. I do like it though. She looks amazing.

Yes! The second song especially sounds good. She's really giving us some hits this time.

@PoshLife WINGS's Hair Short is now 10 years old

The way my dumb ass got excited for a second when I saw "WINGS" cuz I thought there was news :lmao:

Looks like Yeseul put out a song in July 2023, but it's a ballad. I don't think Nayoung is doing anything

Yesssss I was just watching some of these videos last week and they're only in 480p. Videos like "Final Distance" and "Sakura Drops" deserve to be in as high-resolution as possible :legend:

i got bored and was reading this kpop blog and he was talking about how these days music, especially kpop, is made to fit a certain vibe/attitude instead just focusing on creating an interesting structure and catchy melodies. i kinda see what he saying now ig. so many songs would be mega-bangers but the songs be building up for something epic and then all of sudden the song stops. no final impact in the last chorus. by the end, u feel letdown cuz it becomes dull. doesn't leave an impact on u.

i always wondered why this was ig
