The EGOT

Winning the EGOT is very hard to do.   12 people have pulled it off in competitive categories, not including a few that have accomplished via "honorary" awards.  Wikipedia has a list https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_who_have_won_Academy,_Emmy,_Grammy,_and_Tony_Awards.   Whats interesting is that nobody has managed to pull off a competitive EGOT by being a performing threat in the "natural" form across all mediums.  The composers won for composing, always.   The actors and comedians with Grammys did not get them in major categories  (spoken word, children, and comedy albums) and in most cases not even via singing or musical performance.  Musicians get Oscars or Emmy's for music related awards, not acting.  Streisand and Minelli, both actors and singers, got EGOT via "honorary" awards late in their career.  Which is great, being awarded for a lifetime of outstanding work is certainly nothing to be denied and could be argued as more impressive than somebody who strikes gold once and collects a bunch of awards awards for one thing.

So while it would be cool for Gaga to get an EGOT, I actually hope she can pull it off the "true" way as a multiple musical and acting threat..  She's got grammies.  She'd need a Tony for starring in a play, although with a Tony being the musical producer for a production is a big deal also.  An emmy and oscar for acting roles.  I think the Tony is a foregone conclusion someday, an Emmy is probably a reasonable possibility, but the Oscar will be the most difficult for her to achieve.  it's just not that easy to win an acting Oscar.

if anyone currently in the picture can pull of a "natural" EGOT, it's probably Gaga, and she has the breadth of interest and determination to improve that would be needed to pull that off.

She'll win an Emmy for a tour / tour dvd and she'll win an oscar when that Paul Mccartney movie comes out or when she writes a bond song one day.

She'll get a Tony if and when she stars in Gypsy or something

Yesterday was prove of how muh of an achievement it actually is, to get that EGOT.

I'm actually happy she didn't win the Oscar and can go through that battle. Winning best actress, either support role or lead is a bit of a long dream, but we never know. With the right role, some experience..But there are other categories, she's multitalented, the options are endless

she was in the DRAMA dept at Tisch, which is for Theatre.  She's a theatre geek. She's more likely to do that than almost anything else.

I wish I cared more about it, tbh...I just hope keeps on working, gaining experience, developing her skills, developing new skills, creating a body of work..."egoting" or not is a secondary concern to me...

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

Swan Heart

She'll get it.

They say it's the last song. They don't know us, you see. It's only the last song if we let it be.

I was just looking at the categories. Wouldn't TIHTY fit in also?

Outstanding Music Composition For A Limited Series, Movie Or A Special (Original Dramatic Score)

Wouldn't the Hunting Ground be considered a movie/special?

She needs to snatch that Best Actress, not some best song. Sam smith can have it.

She needs to have her Moonstruck tbh
