Reminder: Keep your expectations low

I actually think it would be in poor taste for her to use hype surrounding a song about sexual assault to announce a lead single or name of the album. It would take attention away from the message of TIHTY, which is what Gaga is currently promoting.

If she wins, the press is going to ask her about it anyways. Remember the golden globes? Paparazzis were just asking about her new album and not about her role

And I've forced myself so far to not have a meltdown if my hopes were too high.

Are people trolling or really that dense?

After performing THITY - "My new single for LG5 is out next week!!!" :saladga:

Well it's the same as when there is some award show where Gaga has confirmed not to perform.

"YAAAS that means she's singing her new single + surprise performance!"

We only have high expectations because she gives us otherwordly gifts. Either she wins or not, she'll dominate the stage, gives us life on the red carpet, possible drunky snap chats. The gifs if she wins though.

Yes, but the more she feeds into that the more she allows attention to be taken away from the issue at hand. When people ask her about LG5 if she responds with "That discussion is for another time, tonight I'm here to be a part of the conversation on the serious issue of sexual assault," it will be so much more respectful.

She's done it before with interviewers where she reroutes them from one topic to another. I'm confident she can do it here too.

Child, please, GGD LIVES for the meltdowns. Whatever happens, you KNOW people will find something to complain about.

As for me, I'm just ready to enjoy the performance with an open mind. If she wins the award, then that's wonderful, if she doesn't, guess what? Life goes on.

Honestly, I feel like Manta Ray is the best song in the category too.

Of course, I will be really happy for Diane and Gaga if they win, and I'm almost sure they will..

They say it's the last song. They don't know us, you see. It's only the last song if we let it be.

Riot Poof

I'm surprised how much faith some users have that she'll win the Oscar! Let's hope that they're right!

Of course Glory won!

Glory won the Golden Globe + the Oscar already.

She'll win.

Everyone is predicting Diane & Gaga to win.

including GoldDerby -> was right in the last 5 years

Hopefully. :ohno:

I know but Til It Happens To You didn't lose the Golden Globe, it wasn't nominated because it was from a documentary. Also Til It Happens To You was still up for an Oscar, so it's unfair to say Glory is the only Oscar winning song in that Grammy category at that time.

I, however, hope so much that she wins because she will probably announce the first single like she did at the VMAs

The Oscars is not a music award ceremony, so don't expect that. It would be very weird to announce your new music at an award show full of movie stars.

If there's one thing I learnt from the ARTPOP era it's to ALWAYS lower my expectations! :koons:

Well, to be fair ARTPOP didn't disappoint some fans, at least not musically. It's only the chart performance that slightly disappointed me a bit. The music was as fine as ever.
