Dude, wtf? I guess I was making a statement about young people. It's sad but even today very few of the younger generation know about David Bowie and his legacy. I wish schools taught about him, which is part of the problem, but it's up to all of us to follow our own path of discovery. And hopefully it leads us to the geniuses. We can't rely on the media to tell us who is great.
CroatiaGeisha 19
Like it or not, Gaga inherited her sense of spectacle from Bowie and she will go down in history (more than any of her contemporaries) for that, regardless of what Bowie and his camp thinks about her. So just allow the fans, the media outlets, and Bowie's people the opportunity to hate on her in peace for the time being as they are still mourning him. Gaga just had a chance to pay tribute to one of her idols and she did it in a way that was honest to to the type of influence he had on her. She is over the top, cheesy, fun, epic and she loves mimicking the people she looks up to. If someone ever admired me and wanted to tribute me, I would want them to do it trutfhfully, even if I would not have liked their style or artistry. I just don't think it's our right to have control over how we are remembered, but I sense I could be in the minority over that.
mic 1,415
Lorde's one was more classy but also conformist in a way. I agree Gaga's show maybe was a lil bit too Vegas like but Bowie was pretty theatrical himself as well. Anyone could stand in red light and sing life on Mars it's rather good for her than anything else. But ok
JustAnotherDay 8,402
Frankly, its disrespectful to Bowie's memory to take the tributes to his life and work and turn them into petty internet drama for people to argue on social media about. was NickARTPOP
ThatAsianGuy 2,365
Theres too much going on with Gagas performance i like Lordes approach better. Sometimes the simpler the better specially at giving tributes to dead people. Im not saying that Gags gave a bad performance it could had been a better performance if she did Lordes.
