I thought she was trying to get away from them as well? Because she didn't want to be affiliated with a label that still associated itself with him? That as long as she was still signed to Sony, Luke could still profit off of her, because he's still part of Sony too?

I understand that Sony has many labels under them, that's what Zayn did, just swapped labels, but still under Sony. Kesha is trying to do the same, she's tied with crazy contract to dr Luke's label so whatever she creates, he profits from it even if he doesn't produce for her.

But isn't the whole point that as long as they're both under the same label, she can never truly be free? Isn't that what Gaga was saying when she said "before Sony can free Kesha, they have to free Dr Luke," essentially saying that if they drop him, he'll lose his label and thus, his control over Kesha? Indeed, Sony can end this whole sorry situation by just letting him go. But they won't. And that makes them even worse when you think about it.

No that's not the point. Yeah Gaga said that, if they drop him he'd be forced to drop her. But if she would be free from contract with him and be signed to any other label under Sony, she'd be fine.

Yeah Sony is bad, they were bad for many artists before her, but it's mission impossible to break any ties with them.
