What's Marina had to say about this?

She's talked about him negatively before, but I can't remember what it was she had to say. Can any Diamonds help with finding her quote about him?

Also in the thread in the Entertainment News section, there's a collection of tweets from other artists that are owned by or who have talked to Dr. Luke. Like Becky G telling a fan who's talking about her eating habits that they sound like Dr. Luke (we know Dr. Luke called Kesha a refrigerator). Him posting a picture on Instagram and saying that he works his artists hard. Sky talking about Dr. Luke ruining another life (I think this was in response to Dr. Luke retweeting a Bonnie McKee tweet where she talks about drunkenness - that tweet has been deleted) and him saying she wishes hers could be ruined (this one you can still find on Twitter). Sky's label wanted her to work with Dr. Luke early in her career, for what it's worth.

And Kelly Clarkson (who worked with Luke early on in her career) dropping this.

Did he sexually assault Kesha? The court doesn't seem to think so. But at the very least, there's a lot of evidence to show that he's an awful human being.

Till it happens to one us we won't know what it's like. Of course I'm boycotting Dr Luke's music. I hope other artists do the right thing.

Saint Laurent

But what if we already own the songs/albums :emma:

I don't think anybody is going to know or be bothered that I'm listening to E.T. which I bought like 5 years ago :emma:

If you own it, he won't get any more coins from you listening to it, so that's acceptable. I own a lot of these and i'll still listen to them

OMFG... those are all from Dr. Luke??? They are my jam. Although I condemn his attitude, I prefer to treat his songs differently from his personal matters. Music is still music.

I would probably be attacked for this. But a similar analogy is like... eating meat? We have good burgers, but can we consider how it was created? This is a bad comparison, but definitely gets the point out.

With all those exposé that he's getting, this will harm him professionally as singers would be a little distant from him, I guess(?). But karma ha.

Just Download illegal copies of all these songs smh

Well while I commend the idea of this, you might as well not listen to Kesha either. He's produced so many of her songs.

I guess going forward boycotting him would be the best thing any Kesha fan can do for her.  I don't know what happened between them but she obviously looks so traumatized. My take is nobody should be forced to work in a situation where they feel uncomfortable or threatened. Poor Kesha. :(

How is that SJWing you? People really need to stop throwing around "SJW!" whenever someone disagrees on a social issue. :smh: (Similarly, people also need to stop throwing around the word "racist!", but that's not related to this thread)

Your analogy basically translates to: "Turning a blind eye to what happens behind the scenes in order to enjoy the music is like turning a blind eye to what happens in slaughterhouses to enjoy the burger!", which is totally right. And some people are comfortable treating artists like meat, other people are not.

You showed yourself to be the type that treats artists like meat, choosing to enjoy the outcome and turn a blind eye to the downsides of the processing. Not everyone is like that. Some people choose to help people with integrity AND talent get to the top, not just people who can churn out Top 40 hits with no real purpose other than to be a money-grabbing bop.

Caring about living things isn't being "politically correct," it's being a decent human being with compassion. No need to turn this into a "SJW" issue.

Excuse me if I am misunderstanding you, but your comment is a little... I can't think of the right word. Finger-wagging? idk

Are you condemning people who enjoy the music for what it is, regardless of how it was made? I am the same way as Mark and I am by far and no means, a horrible person like you are making it seem.

I'm not condemning people. But I am pointing out that by supporting Dr. Luke's music we are putting money in the pockets of a total jerk. Even if he didn't rape Kesha, he's done enough other crappy things to solidify that he's not a good person.

I'm not trying to make it seem like you're a horrible person. But the reality is that if you choose to listen to stream or in the future buy produced by Luke, you are financially supporting him. And Mark brought up the meat analogy first, so I'll use it- some people support farms that treat their animals fairly, even though it's typically less convenient, while others will buy meat from any farm, even if the farm uses shady practices.
Where you buy your meat isn't the end-all-be-all of if you are a good person or not, just like choosing to support Dr. Luke doesn't make you a horrible person. But by not supporting him you'd be showing an extra step of compassion towards artists who want to be in control of their music. Just like by being vegan/vegetarian or buying your meat from a humane place shows an extra step of compassion towards animals.

I support Kesha but I don't think boycotting these songs will make any difference. These songs are also produced and written by the actual performing artists as well.

I already have most of these, both digitally and in CD form from the albums they're off. Mess.

And while I support Kesha, Dr.Luke has made some great music. Including Kesha's whole discography, so should I stop listening to her too? :duck:
