What do you think made ARTPOP so bad on the charts and what caused the era?

This has been discussed, analyzed, picked apart, swallowed and regurgitated more times than "Does Lady Gaga have a Dik"

It was mismanaged, we can clearly see that now.

The saddest thing is that Gaga was so enthusiastic for the album when we rewind back to 2012. She promised us so many awesome things. She really was going to do them. Then 2013 happened and the injury came along. She took a long stretch of time to recover and to perfect the album. She was in a lot of pain and probably the only thing that kept her going was thinking about the album and the future. And then when the album was out, people just dismissed it. Completely unfair and ungreatful to her. Who gives a damn about fans who left the fanbase, who gives a **** about the haters' opinions? The album was a gift, a part of her soul given by her to us as the ultimate return and rise from the fallen phoenix in the ashes to the mighty phoenix in the sky. It seems that people forgot how happy and optimistic and full of inspiration she was while developing the album and the visuals for the era. That is why ARTPOP the album and its title song will always remain my favourite out of all of her work. If you really indulge yourself into its philosophy you will realize its importance and meaning to Gaga. It will stay a jewel, a bold music piece. Too bad that will be realized by people after a long time from now.

Really sorry for the long rant but wanted to let this out.

It really does have some great songs on and I and a lot of people do appreciate her honesty on lots of the songs but at the same time I don't think people completely dismissed it. It is one of the biggest albums of 2013 and it was certainly the most or one of the most talked about albums of 2013

True. But what I meant is that it is being even more dismissed as time passes. It is so awful to see so many fans on here and twitter using ARTPOP as an example of a flop album and comparing it with other albums. It still happens on a regular basis.

InsideOutright

The lead single was overshadowed by a ton of other hits that the GP liked better. Pop music in 2013 was way better than every year after that. That was strike one right there.

EDIT: Plus Gaga didn't have much going for her at the time. She was coming right off of a media blackout because of her hip injury. She didn't have anybody talking about her like she does now, so the GP was like "Lady Gaga has a new song out? Who cares? She's so 2011."
