Hauser 1,262
So i've noticed that in itunes there is an option to create an ACC version of a song. If i choose that option will that make the file sound better? The only changes i notice are file size (increase) bit rate (increase) and it changes to from mp3 to m4a. Can someone answer this? garnite 8
there's no way you can make a file sound better than it already is. but you can make it sound worse.
hvymtllvr 1
I don't think it'll make the original sound better

I don't see the point in making an mp3 file an M4A. Unless you want to trick people into thinking you have a song in M4A then sure.
Hauser 1,262
well my thing is that if i get a youtube rip of an audio the file will usually be 128kbps, when i create the acc version it becomes 256kbps, and i know that generally the higher the bit rate th better audio quality...right? Im not really sure, im not trying to sound ignorant.

ZAIJHNZJEN 1
When you convert something to 256 kbps AAC (iTunes Plus), it will be the same quality if the original file has a bit-rate higher than that. Converting files does take quality though. If you have a 256 MP3 and you convert that to 256 AAC, the AAC will sound "worse" (the difference is not noticeable, but still worse). hvymtllvr 1
Look at it this way. If you get a heaps ****ty quality video but convert it to HD, it's going to be the size of a HD video but look all pixelly and ****.

Nope And because you're converting it to M4a, the sound quality will actually become worse And it becomes larger Try and find a higher quality source
