I commend her for not collaborating with her contemporaries or rappers just to get a hit, Or just for the sake of it. Yeah, she did Jewels N' Drugs, But she didn't make that song for it to be played all over urban radio, or to look cool. It wasn't meant to be taken seriously. I think it more of her building off of trends not necessarily going out of the order it is. That can be like doing the opposites of various things, making a certain music, catering to various audiences. She does follow trends though to an extent. But not sure about pop funk, if that's their current work. I don't think they're the same. However, the EDM (type that we have now) went mainstream after TF debut. EDM genre definitely evolved and I really wouldn't compare the work on TF and AP, especially when you have the very clear EDM breakdown on GUY. I truly do think Gaga adds her own spice to these things.
