Update: Manny Pacquiao quotes bible: homosexual to be put to death

Following up on his belief that people in same-sex relationships are “worse than animals,” Manny Pacquiao reportedly quoted a bible verse on Instagram that says two men who have sex with each other “are to be put to death."

The boxer — who was dropped by Nike on Wednesday— posted, then deleted, Leviticus 20:13, according to ABS CBN News, writing “If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.”

The post had more than 18,000 likes and was up for roughly two hours before it was deleted, ABS CBN reported. It also said that Pacquiao denied quoting the verse in 2012, stating that he had a gay relative but was against same-sex marriage because it is the word of God.
