The Impersonator Look Was a Mistake

I feel like the performance would get significantly less criticism if Gaga toned down the impersonator drag costumes she did at The Grammy's.

I feel like a more toned down look with one or two iconic Bowie moments going on (orange hair, lightning bolt) would have made it look less like a Las Vegas impersonator act, which is the main criticism of the performance.

I feel like this would make the performance look less busy and messy.

That said, it was still a quality performance - but honestly, I expected more.

Like I said already in another thread...

I think the performance would have been better if it was more emphasis on Gaga, herself, paying tribute to Bowie in her own style rather than trying to emulate Bowie's look and voice. She could have really slayed some of those songs if she sang them in her natural voice.

Still, it was a great performance but I wish it was more Gaga because it did become a little more of an impersonation than a tribute.

Maybe this isn't the right time to post this... Everyone's blaming each other for spreading 'negativity'...

Pacify Him

I admire her persistence but like as some people here said, not everyone knows about him :air:

I actually think the opposite, it was the coolest thing about her performance, her being there.

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

Hmmm they can deal with that, it's their issue :emma:

I think a majority of us liked the performance, it's just it could have gone a little better.

I agree.

It was too obvious, and her red carpet look felt like a cosplay/haloween costume.

I think having blonde hair would've made things a lot better.

It was a hot ass mess. It would have been cool to see FameGa paying tribute to David Bowie because it would have felt more authentic and less try hard and desperate.

I loved the performance tbh. I feel she did Bowie justice. However I keep seeing people bad mouth it by saying it looked like bad karaoke and that they hoped she would fall while spinning. I'm not really sure why people are so "appalled" honestly. It's Gaga. Bowie is an idol of hers, of course she is going to bring her and Bowie's eccentricity to the table. I personally wish Intel's part of the performance wasn't so hyped into being this life changing spectacle. Yes it is a breakthrough in technology in terms of it being live, and it was really really cool, but I feel let down a tiny bit as far as that's concerned. Gaga herself did a phenomenal job and I wish people would give the woman more goddamn credit

I actually loved the red carpet look. A friend of mine who is a die hard Bowie fan actually cried tears of joy when she saw the iconic blue make up and fire red hair.

This! I really thought that would be her goal. Show us how he inspired her. Guess she didnt have much tine to think deeply about it.

At the end of the day this won't even be a footnote in Gaga's career

It was an opportunity to show people why Gaga became Gaga in the first place

And it's almost like - "I know I will never fill his shoes, but I'll at least wear them, literally."

And it was the safest opportunity to see where the public is at with her brand of theater/music, after national anthem at super bowl and before oscars

There's nothing harder for people to do than admit they were fooled.
