Do you have a source for this?

http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/57759/us-radio-hangs-up-on-madonna

In the United States, "Sorry" debuted at number 70 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the issue dated March 11, 2006 and reached a peak of 58 the following week. The same week it reached a peak of 46 on the Pop 100 chart.Its low chart performance in America was attributed to limited radio airplay. A petition was signed by about 3,300 fans at petitionline.com. Known as the "End the Madonna U.S. Radio Boycott," it was addressed to Clear Channel Communications CEO Mark P. Mays. Message boards at Entertainment Weekly and VH1, were filled with everything from support for Madonna to conspiracy theories about why she was not played on radio.

I like the song and video, it's one of the best Madonna songs.

By contract she still has one album left, so she won't be leaving just yet.

Doesn't a Greatest Hits Album count?

American Life was Madonna saying bye bye to the US radio.. sadly, because the album was outstanding, definitely one of her best work.

COAD was too good to flop in the USA. It performed good, but if it had come out after Music, it would have sold A LOT more. Nevertheless, it sold 12 million copies, with only 1.7 in the US.

Even Hard Candy did good, which surprised me to be honest. It is platinum in most major music markets.

I won't discuss the MDNA mess.

RH is too good to have flopped so hard. Literally, the album is great.

I strongly believed Hung Up went to #1, it's one of her most memorable hit (or just in Europe maybe?)

Hung Up went #1 in 41 countries and sold 9.8 million singles to be exact, so that's pretty much everywhere except the US... Then again, Madonna is an international act so this thread putting emphasis on her US chart career since 2000 is quite laughable. As you can see from the OP, everything went downhill chart-wise with American Life, because of it's anti-war (and anti Bush) message. She didn't bounce back from it in the US with COADF like she did in the rest of the world and since then she's been under extreme scrutiny for being "old" and a "maneater".

But whatever. She keeps the coins coming in anyway, her personal wealth is enormous and unparalleled by any artists who are currently alive... #MadonnaDaily

Why are you so pressed? I do these threads for all artists in the US. Its way too time consuming for me to do every decade for Madonna at once. I like Madonna and this was not intended to shade her.

I didn't realise her chart positions were "poor" in the U.S.

Especially shocked at Hung Up. It was literally EVERYWHERE in the U.K., I still have the CD single as I remember bopping my small sexually confused ass to it everyday. :emma:

I mean Madge still gets played on the radio today, classic madonna and I've even heard Bitch I'm Madonna
