Am I the only one who thinks Beyonce is at her best on more emotionally-driven tracks like 'I Was Here', for example? :stalkga: That's the Beyonce I'd like to see.

I hate this "LOOK AT ME, I'M AN EXPERIMENTAL ARTISTE!!11" attitude. It's boring and it's fake. And I'm not talking of Beyoncé only.

Experimental and let me guess, trap influenced and Tidal exclusive ? Yeah honey, we know how that goes.

JK it's Beyoncé and will be a success. I will listen to it.

Everyone is going the "experimental" route and not doing so well.

Gaga is gonna come and cause a Just Dance effect and make everyone look like fools as she introduces the new wave in Pop music.

(Well this is what I hope for lol)

Just make good music.

MTE! Once Gaga comes thru these gurls are going to feel silly and just go back to the regular promotion method.

Experimental =/= good. We actually NEED 'basic' feel-good songs like Tik Tok and california girls in our pop culture lives. This experimental era is depressing.

You don't deserve a point of view if the only thing you see is you.

Sounds like it will either be her rhythm nation or her American life. Depends how she executed it.

American life is great though :nick: Probably not relevant but basically everyone agrees now that the US invasion of Iraq was morally wrong :emma:

Or at least every left wing/non american...

I meant in impact and reception. Rhythm Nation addressed similar issues as Beyonce plans to but doesn't come across as contrived or feeding the artist's ego like people seemed to think of AL.

"topics people think she doesn't care about" well I hope she does more than just make songs to prove she cares about those things, bc as far as I know she hasn't spoken much about anything ever

Her BORN This Way

She is entering the political atmosphere as an advocate not a voter in America. So remember that, born this way had a wider variety of musical stylings than ARTPOP imo so I'd call BTW experimental before I would ARTPOP

Sounds interesting. But honestly, as long as she's passionate about the project that should help bring out the best in her creatively.

I'm not sure why everyone is acting like "experimental" is the only way to go now. I don't think I've heard anything truly "experimental" on the radio in a long time. Lots of artists say that they will go "experimental" but it just winds up being another trap mix or a "basic" pop song with slightly "deeper" lyrics or an "extra" sound or two. All true experimental music is is playing around with sounds and themes and coming up with different, totally non-conventional ways of putting it all together and approaching the material. Most truly experimental stuff I've heard doesn't have the pretty "pop" vocals, no "flowing" melodies, no "boppy" beats, etc. It's all a little eccentric, or chaotic, or really out there in the terms of quality. It can literally be anything outside of the norm. I doubt it's anything that most here would want to listen too (especially with this deep love of Top 40 music). We are likely never going to hear anything like that on radio anyway (it would be really hard to sell), so I'm not sure why people keep complaining they want back generic "basic pop" beats, "bring back basic dance pop". Don't worry. It hasn't gone anywhere and won't ever. That's why it's in the "mainstream" and pop radio.

Now if an artist wants to experiment with their "own" signature sound, that's a different type of experimentation, which I think many mainstream pop artists mean when they say "experimental." It will still be "mainstream," easy to digest, and sale-able. But not what I would really consider "experimental music".

Just my opinion of course.

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."
