It's one thing to criticize cops for using force on unarmed citizens, it's entirely another argument when they're being actively threatened with a deadly weapon. I feel bad that this person died, but I put the fault of this death on the mental health care she was receiving, which was clearly lacking. The news article claims she admitted to actively self-harming, had "emotional meltdowns" and threatened suicide. Why was she being allowed to live alone or be by herself in the house if she was unstable in this way? I think all the "should, coulda, woulda" talk about the cops is nonsense. When you only have a few seconds to act before a knife is in your throat, you don't have time to analyze and weight every possible option. Even with the best training, you're going to do what you have to do to ensure you don't die. Also, does it make a difference whether they knew she had Asperger's?
