I enjoyed the tribute to B.B. King. It was the best song of the night.

Poor Adele. I was cringing at parts and she knew it wasn't going well.

At least she didn't overshadow Gaga this time :hor:

Please, Adele was on point tonight and sounded lovely.

Gaga performed amazingly, and sang pretty well too! At this point I wouldn't even speak of "overshadowing" there's room for many at the table, not only one.

Adele was very off key at parts and was straining at the end. Don't see how you couldn't hear that.

When compared to a fair amount of the other performances, she sounded great, much better. Not saying its her best performance by any means, of course she can do better vocally.

I fell asleep and missed the show :flop: Just watched Gaga's performance now though, loved the beginning but the rest seemed kinda boring to me :S Then again I'm probably less able to appreciate the tribute because of my lack of knowledge about David Bowie, as in the references and all of that flew over my head and I'm sure they help in grasping the reasons behind everything in the performance :duck:

It seemed underwhelming to me because of the amount of hype it had as a cutting edge performance with killer technology and stuff, in the end the only thing that wowed me in that way was the beginning and that was like having something projected onto Gaga anyway so didn't seem that amazing either :laughga: A bigger performance was expected I guess, by bigger I mean set and parts and stuff at least, I liked how she looked at times but this performance just wasn't for me I guess :emma:

I was reading all the comments fearing the performance isnt good but I just watched it and its one of her all time best performances and I always criticize Gaga.. I guess you guys expected a pop blonde superstar to be performing but this is a bowie tribute and Gaga was never the pop blonde that many people still see her as! It seems like you guys dont even know who Gaga is and are just here because your board of being a Katy Perry fan.

completely off topic and please forgive me, but did you used to be Fayyssala on GGD 1.0?

She knew it wasn't going well because she could hear the off tune string sound. The piano mics fell on to the piano strings and made it sound out of tune. It's kind of hard to sing with an out of tune sound throughout much of your song.

Someone got fired tonight. Lol

In this case I suspect the technology live was probably more interesting than what we saw on TV, but it was cool that all that stuff was happening live and in real time.

Gaga did great though. She is such a born entertainer.  I can't think of another pop star that would have pulled that off.  Gaga's theatre background came flying through.  It gets even better with repeated viewings.  I loved her attitude and energy through the whole thing.

some of you set yourselves up for disappointment every damn time.

I think she did lovely.  Her performance seems well received on other social media platforms as well.

Aside from the over-hype, I think a lot of fans are struggling with this performance because it was very different from what we're accustomed to.

Tonight wasn't about Gaga, it was about Bowie -- and she did a wonderful job highlighting his most iconic moments.   She wasn't supposed to "shock" or "deliver".   Honestly, had the performance felt more "Gaga" it would have been an injustice.

Just my $.02.

Head Empty

Boy am I glad that I watched this performance on my own without the responses of some of you guys to accompany it, because I enjoyed the **** out of this performance :flutter:. It was Gaga at her best again, and the balance between vocals, dancing, and technology was more on point than it has ever been. TBH it almost seemed like an entire Broadway show dedicated to Bowie, only compressed into a super sweet Grammy-sized performance instead :laughga:.

This performance cemented an opinion I've had for a while. I don't think Gaga has taste. I think she has always relied on individuals like Dada or Nicola to refine her ideas. That is why a tour with Kayne West (an artists with a great sense of design) made sense a few years ago, but wouldn't make sense now.

What I hoped was self-aware kitschness, just turns out to be tackynesss. It's too literal to wear stars and stripes heels and a red pant suit to perform the National Anthem, it's too literal to wear copy-and-paste David Bowie outfits during a Bowie tribute, it's too literal to wear beautiful gowns and a red lip when singing with Tony.

"It's the national anthem what were you expecting, it's a tribute performance what were you expecting, it's a collaboration with Tony Bennet what were you expecting?" I'm expecting innovation, and there is no reason why her spirit of innovation should be limited to the realm of pop music.

As for this performance specifically, I think it was alright. The cons: It would have been preferable to knock one song out of the park as opposed to rushing through a dozen of his greatest hits. The costumes were tacky and would be at home in a Vegas review or a drag show. Making a profit from a Bowie tribute by collaborating with Intel seems uncouth. The promise of being shown something we haven't seen before wasn't met. The pros: She is a great performer, give her a stage and she will always deliver.
