I think she has always relied on individuals like Dada or Nicola to refine her ideas. That is why a tour with Kayne West (an artists with a great sense of design) made sense a few years ago, but wouldn't make sense now. What I hoped was self-aware kitschness, just turns out to be tackynesss. It's too literal to wear stars and stripes heels and a red pant suit to perform the National Anthem, it's too literal to wear copy-and-paste David Bowie outfits during a Bowie tribute, it's too literal to wear beautiful gowns and a red lip when singing with Tony. "It's the national anthem what were you expecting, it's a tribute performance what were you expecting, it's a collaboration with Tony Bennet what were you expecting?" I'm expecting innovation, and there is no reason why her spirit of innovation should be limited to the realm of pop music. As for this performance specifically, I think it was alright. The cons: It would have been preferable to knock one song out of the park as opposed to rushing through a dozen of his greatest hits. The costumes were tacky and would be at home in a Vegas review or a drag show. Making a profit from a Bowie tribute by collaborating with Intel seems uncouth. The promise of being shown something we haven't seen before wasn't met. The pros: She is a great performer, give her a stage and she will always deliver. I was left with the impression that it would've been million times better if she did Space oddity only with her face being animated for the whole performance. When I heard her voice mix so well with David I got major chills.

I agree, but you have to keep in mind that she only has a merely month to prepare for this. If she would of had more time, I bet she would have had better clothes, dance moves, etc. For her to organize all of this in only a month really shows how good she is. Honestly though, she's had better outfits made in shorter time than a month. In regards to her singing too many songs, this wasn't her decision alone. So if you guys are gonna come for her , you should also come for Nile Rogers.

A close up of her face, the mixing of the vocals, it would have been stunning. 9 minutes ago, LePetitMonstr said: I agree, but you have to keep in mind that she only has a merely month to prepare for this. I think she has lacked taste and direction for a while, that is why I included her collaboration with Tony and her performance at the Super Bowl in my post. I could have included every performance of Till It Happens To You in there as well. Fingers crossed that she pulls things together. 2 minutes ago, Hecturr said: Honestly though, she's had better outfits made in shorter time than a month. Just beacuse she curated the list doesn't mean that Nile didnt have any say in the matter. She obviously respects his opinions and most likely was open to any advice/critique he had about the tribute. So it's not fair to put the blame 100% on Gaga, that's my point. You mean the Brandon Maxwell gown? Nothing screams innovation like a pretty blonde actress wearing a conservative black gown to the Emmy's, except maybe a pretty blonde actress wearing conservative black gown to the Golden Globes. Red 97,068
That was so disappointing, Intel is full of **** tbh. If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

Sister 9,907
It is always times like this that it becomes just so apparent that Gaga is this powerhouse tiny performer whom everyone just wants to put a lid on it or push around into being what they feel she can only be, but never let her just be and bring out who she decides that she is or can and will be. Oh, Gaga was just too crazy and over the top, too Gaga for the general public or Oh, Gaga was too normal, I wasn't impressed, when Gaga is more demure in presentation. Gaga was exciting and loving it, in her moment, heart and soul on her sleeve and even nervous, her little lip was quivering, she wanted to excel. AND she did. Even you @SKANK, I have seen you totally flip flop, Gaga is too kitschy or Gaga is too bland and conservative, get it together, choose a side. You usually pick for her to be full on garish and then tonight, she was bordering on freaking Liberace and you are still complaining. We also get the "hipster" cool crowd, whom Gaga will never please, because she just can never be acceptable for their crowd, even though she is a card carrier of most of the same things that they "check out" and claim, look at even Bowie's son's special jab on twitter. It's a catty tweet and all know it and they always begin it just by belittling Gaga by just starting with her name meaning, "gaga" and next is her face, then that she is every imitation of all that they hold as "art", therefore, she just is not acceptable to the cool crowd, but they NEVER go for the jugular with Gaga and THAT is her talent in performance and her true voice, because THEN they lose all arguments and those who were buying into their argument against Gaga would jolt back to reality, Gaga is a truly talented singer and entertainer and you do not need to know anything about Gaga to know that, just watch a performance and it is there. Just as tonight, Gaga delivered and some people just hate it, because David Bowie is the ultimate cool GOD of all uncool and here is a LADY GAGA who got to deliver him to THE MASSES. It is so sad and a pity that so many are so petty and do not get their own irony. These hipsters are so bland. I wonder, besides the fact that loving David Bowie is just such a cool thing, since Trent Reznor, how do they even survive his records, with their bland and unexciting response to all things that they exude. I laugh and laugh on end, cue the canned laughter. Everyone does not have to like Gaga's tribute, but people do need to get over themselves and realize that Gaga is here to stay, she earns her due by her never ending talent and she is not just a phase or shot in the dark. Gaga lives and breathes art, song and entertainment, she lives to be on stage and will persevere, when you want it as bad and pure as her, you always do, so haters are absolutely wasting their time, thoughts and breathe by even trying her. The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

I have a personal preference for outrageous and innovative fashion, which is different then unintentionally tasteless fashion. Think Leigh Bowery over Liberace. That isn't a flip flop, just a matter of nuance. That being said, I agree with most of your post/rant.

Nirvana 2,700
I have not been able to comment, something wrong with either GGD or my laptop.... Anyway, I loved it, Gaga did her best and everything was on point! It was Intel who hyped this sooo much that it caused impossible expectations. I'm sure looking from a stream doesn't give a right to the performance, it should be live. The audience seemed to like it too! I think if it had had more technology, it had not been so much of honouring David. Though I do think a little less amount of songs or more time had made it even better. Besides Gaga, the performances were a bit boring to me, I did not even watch the show all the time though. Kendrick Lamar suprised me with a powerful performance, and I'm not even a huge fan of rap music. I'll check his discography when I have time.
