Hard to say since her pop era hasn't kicked off- I see what they're saying though. Gaga willingly swerved off the theatrics lane since 2014

"The past is calling". I had this vision of Bey arriving at home for XMas just to find the ghost of the past aka Gaga dragging her career to the mud.

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

Strange article. I think the author is overanalyzing things. (and that's saying something coming from a Gaga fan)

I interpreted it as the author saying that Lady Gaga isn't going to bother trying to keep up with mainstream trends. As the author says, she's "aged herself past what’s trending." She's in a completely different lane right now than Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy, Taylor, Adele. In fact, she's always been in a different lane. Five or six years ago it was a trendy lane to be in, and now it's simply not. But Gaga doesn't care. She's still cruising in the same lane, in the same car, with the windows down and her sunglasses on, a living embodiment of the past -- "what's trended" (as the author says) -- ready to go wherever the hell she wants.

Hmmm, I dont know if Gaga is content with "being past" or if she is trying to be, but I feel that she Needed this time of "traditional" showing of star power. Back in the 2008-2011 peak, Gaga was the future. Using nostalgia of past things, she herself changed the direction of pop music (sonic trends, theatrical performances, making a single release or a music video an event, re-injecting fashion and daring visuals into mainstream pop). Yet, she was built up to be broken down. All of her achievements were left aside for the sake of calling her a flop. Then, what was the best way of reinvention?: Back to basics. Showing that behind the antics that made her the future of pop, there is the classic astonishing talent that used to make the stars of the past. And... it worked. People not only know she can belt the national anthem like a f*cking pro, but they are expecting her return to craziness as well, "Ok, that is gaga but where is The Gaga?". Formation is the message of a queen and it is political and it is important and "it slays", but you know its not going to chart long, its not going to trend, its not going to change the status of music (Bey seems to have taken a different "bigger" lane). People are expecting the one that can shake the ground again.

I don't know if I articulated myself correctly, but I feel like recently Gaga has proved that she maneuvers herself in the right direction: she is the potential of the future with the classic stardom of the past. She isnt like an old art project, she is the mona lisa. Exhibitions pass by, but the mona lisa is still hanging there, classic yet intriguing

I'm not sure that being "what's trending" is really being mainstream tho, because if we look at the numbers, what's trended is what is successful (Adele's old soul music is selling millions), what's trending on the other hand is confusing the GP (ANTI was a mess, you can't deny it).
